Tim Duncan
Age: 31
Contract status: Three years, $61.7 million remaining (can opt out after next season)
Future: Spurs to discuss giving him two-year extension that will keep him with franchise through 2010-11 season.

Manu Ginobili
Age: 29
Contract status: Three years, $29.1 million remaining
Future: Still playing at All-Star level. Only question is whether he starts or comes off bench.

Tony Parker
Age: 25
Contract status: Four years, $47.2 million remaining
Future: Finals MVP has yet to reach his prime.

Bruce Bowen
Age: 36
Contract status: One year, $4.1 million (not fully guaranteed)
Future: Ageless defender was at his best in Finals. Will probably seek extension.

Fabricio Oberto
Age: 32
Contract status: One year, $2.5 million at his option
Future: Wants to stay, but could seek longer deal on market.

Michael Finley
Age: 34
Contract status: One year, $3.1 million at his option
Future: May try to take advantage of strong playoff performance to get longer contract.

Robert Horry

Future: Wants to play one more season and Spurs seem to want him back.

Don't know too much about contract issues. But does that mean that if Bruce is waived before 7/1/07, then he'd still get 2,000,000? But if after, then he gets the full payment? Is that what that means or am I a wrong? Can someone please explain more about the salary protection...

Oh, ok, thanks guys. So that probably means that both Bruce/Robert are safe. Not that there was any doubt...But if you think about it, seeing as how Bruce would only get 4 mil for this upcoming season, then there would be no real reason to waive him just to save 2 mil...

With all the articles talking about Bruce possibly asking for extension this summer, do you guys think the Spurs would agree to it? To extend him for two more years or something of that affect after the great Finals performance?

Bruce will be next year in the last year of a 4 years contract. Player in this case can get an extension.
I can see Bruce getting a $6M/2 years extension. With that extension he will be under contract with San Antonio for three more years and will retire at 38/39 years old after the 2009/2010 season.

As good as Bruce is in the Spurs system, and as well as he played in the playoffs, I don't see teams lining up to give a multi-year contract to a 36 year old defensive specialist.

They'd have to be a team that relies on defensive system like the Spurs--and how many teams does that bring to mind? How many teams can afford to--or have the balls to--put Bowen on the floor as a starter at more money and more years than he has with the Spurs?

I predict he gets a raise and a one year extension with a promise of a job as a commentator or in the front office. Bowen is smart enough to know his future after basketball is with the Spurs and San Antonio.

Officially, Melvin Ely, Matt Bonner, Jacque Vaughn, Rich Melzer and Jamar Smith all drop off the books.

Right now, total payroll on the books is $60,926,815.

There is no reason I see for Bruce's option NOT to be picked up, unless they both agree to restructure for a couple extra years. After his perfomance in the playoffs I would say that's a good bet.

I would fully expect Fin to pick up his PO and possible ask to be extended, but I'm not sure about Fab. His play in the WCF and Finals has made him very marketable. He may also opt out for an extension.

I see us trying to resign Vaughn if we can keep him at his rock bottom vet min price range. I don't see us signing Ely or Bonner.

As always, the 2 biggest contracts we are trying to ditch are Barry and Beno. I doubt either gets moved, however Barry certainly showed last night that he can be a contributor.
