when trailing after three rounds. It amazes me that a cat who is such an awesome golfer in SO many ways can't come from behind in a major. Today he totally psyched out the guy he was playing with (Aaron Baddely who lived up to his nickname of "Badds", +10 on the day!).

Oh well, he's good enough that no matter what his record in these situations he will still blow away Nicklaus' majors record before it's all said and done.

    ˇViva Cabrera!

But when Tiger is AHEAD on tough courses, he goes for the jugular. For some reason when he is behind on the last day he plays much more tentatively.

Couldn't buy a putt, was scared of those greens.

Tee to green Tiger is always amongst the tourney leaders. His putting is always the x-factor. When he's putting well, he doesn't need to make a charge after three-rounds. When he's not putting well, he's always in position too make that charge, but can't capitalize. One thing I've noticed, he can make adjustments mid-tournament to the rest of his game, but for some reason, if he's putting poorly to begin with he continues to putt poorly.

greatest frontrunner in the history of golf.

i used to think he'd shatter jack's record.

i still believe he overtakes the bear, but not by much.

Tiger Woods now 0-29 in majors when trailing after three rounds.
What the kind of stat is that? That's as useless as a stat like, the Spurs are 5-191 all time when losing by over 10 with 5 minutes to go in the game.

That stat doesn't say if he is 1 shot off or 20 shots off after 3. Pffft.

The guy has played 42 majors and won 12 of them. If you are saying that he is 0-29 if losing after 3, and he has won 12, then the correct stat would be that he is 12-1 after leading at a major after 3.

And of that, I doubt it lessens his aura any.

what's really surprising about it was his penchant in the big amateur tourneys for rallying late.

Good try. According to Wikipedia Jack won eight of his 18 majors - nearly half - when trailing after three rounds. The largest deficit was four strokes, ironically in the last major he won, the '86 Masters. So maybe he was 8-71.

Tiger is an awesome golfer. The inability to come from behind when trailing by one or two strokes (and he has been that close in majors on a number of occasions) seems odd in the face of his mul ude of successes in all other aspects of the game. Maybe it's just a statistical anomaly but until he does come from behind it is still an interesting tidbit.

Someone was listening to The Ticket this morning... I think that was just a guess.

Still, I agree that it's a pretty useless stat. On the other hand (as also noted on The Ticket), broadcasters should probably hold off on the "Tiger is looming" stuff until he actually makes a successful comeback.
