key word likely ..... yeah well anything is a possibility
Unofficial News: Scola will join Spurs in '08!!! by spurssheriff vbmenu_register("postmenu_1148647", true);
According to SpursReport, SA to add Scola in 08' but can't tell you how he knows.
Mark this down- especially all of you who never give credit to all the stories that you go spread elsewhere but heard here first.
The Spurs will likely add (not trade) Luis Scola this off-season.
This information comes from an insider and I for one am very excited!!!
Can you say Bleep-peat!?
More details when we can release them. We can't now.
Only way this does not happen is if Luis' agent prices him out of reach... Somehow.

There has been so much talk about this guy he will probably end up coming here and suck.
we all know Spurs will try to get him again. just like they tried the last couple of years.
Still, it is not for sure if it will work out in the end.
Uh, hasn't this been the problem?!?
I mentioned that in another thread about this same topic. A disclaimer like that means there is basically no news.
Yeah, and Kidd to SA is a lock, too.
Only way this does not happen is if Luis' agent prices him out of reach... Somehow.
Way to back off the entire take.
That'd be like saying that you guarantee that the Spurs are going to trade Parker for Kidd. But the only way it doesn't happen is if they decide not to do it.
Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I've seen Scola play a couple of times. I don't think his game translates very well to the NBA level. He's not strong enough to play the 4 and lacks the quicks to play the three. Sure he can be servicable, but I'd prefer to see the Spurs pursue another option.
I guarantee Bruce Bowen will win the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year.
Only way this does not happen is if Bowen doesn't get enough votes... Somehow.
I don't see how this could be good for either the Spurs or Scola. By that I mean...
Spurs will likely have to use a sizeable chunk of their mid-level to sign him to a long-term deal. Because it's no guarantee that Oberto will be gone and fairly apparent that Horry will be back, it's tough to see how Scola would do anything more than ride the pine in his first year...something I doubt he'd be too happy with.
If Oberto opts out and/or Horry decides to go ahead and hang them up, I can certainly see a scenario where this pans out....but something would likely have to be done for this to be beneficial to both parties, IMO.
He's a legit/stacked 240lbs. He has an array of low-post moves that most bigs in San Antonio (outside of Duncan) only dream of. And he's a proven player. I certainly think he's worth the gamble, but I don't see how he steps into a win-win situation unless something else occurs...
The Lakers are trading Kobe to the Knicks. Consider it done. The only way it doesn't happen is if Dr. Buss doesn't want it to happen.
I don't see how this guy could come in and make an immediate impact anyways. He'll need time and a healthy ego check to even begin to fit in. Remember how well that fat dude on the end of our bench looked before he got here. No way this means anything if he comes in right away. I don't really even see this happening.
It appears that a poster on the board claims to have inside information about the Scola thing. Could that be right? Do some of the guys at SpursReport have insider access?
BREAKING NEWS:
We'll probably resign Finley for next year. DISCLAIMER: we might not sign him if he decides not to.
scola comes off the bench now
IF he comes over
bring scola and manu off the bench
should be a good spark off the bench
spurs said duncan and scola could not play on the court the same time
you sign him to a contract
if he is all that you trade him for that long three that is so hard to come by
if he can not play with duncan
scola is worth more then a late second round draft pick and righ tnow all teams are offering that.........
I think Scola gets a bad rap for being upset when the Spurs weren't able to bring him over two years ago, but I see that more as him being a fiery compe or. Scola KNOWS he could get it done on this stage and he's been held out from doing that for 5 years now.
Contrary to your opinion, I think he could come in and do a solid job fairly early. I think he's a key reserve by the all-star break if there's opportunity...and there's the rub...
I also disagree that Scola and Duncan could not play at the same time, though I think Scola's role (if he ends up playing for this team) will likely be a bench role. Duncan is versatile enough to play the high post and the whole notion of two post players together being a problem is flawed...
Spursreport is a big joke.
I remember when I've reported the James White signing after Carlisle said on a radio that he would sign with Sprus the enxt day. They put few hours later a news saying that they learned by some insiders that Spurs will sign White.![]()
Pathetic.
Can I quote you on this one, please ....
And their post about Scola has just been written a day after biggest french newspaper say that Spurs want Scola with them next year.![]()
No.
Well, unless you consider pulling things out of one's azz to be "insider access".
