My nephew has a stepson (raised him since he was 14 mo) who's doner had given up all perental rights, he want's to adopt him but he can't afford that right now, his stepson is asking how come his last name is different from his dad's. I had a friend who had his stepdaughters name changed to his last name and later on when they could afford to he adopted her
