If this guys still available with the first round pick I'd love to see us grab him. Really squirrly player who could really improve alot learning under Manu, Bruce, and Finley.

I think he is a legitimate possibility with the 28 pick.

I saw this guy on of the FIBA tournament games last summe. He was good, a little bit of a chucker though. But he had a good jumpshot from what I remember.

Belinelli has no conscience, which makes him the prototype Phoenix Sun.

I'm wondering if he needs too many shots to work and be happy with the Spurs.

What's crazy is that all of the talk surrounding the Fernandez contract situation may push Belinelli ahead of him on some draft boards.

Teams like the Suns might tab Belinelli at #24 instead of Fernandez because he'd only be overseas for a year, whereas it would be much cloudier when Rudy could come over...

... yet it is because Fernandez has had such success in Europe that's causing all the problems, since he stands to make a mint over there... so he's perhaps the better player of the two.

What will be interesting is if somehow Almond and either Fernandez or Belinelli is available at #28. One wonders how the Spurs have those 3 ranked. In addition, one wonders what threshold must be crossed before the Spurs take a domestic player in the first round.

    Belo is a great prospect.
He is Manuesque, better jump shot, less of a penetrator. He is a bit on/off, but when he is on, he can play with ANYBODy.
Needs to put on some muscle, improve his D and cut down in what we call the "ignorant" shots. Not shy to shoot, even in clutch situation.
Might stay here one more year, but needs to play for a better team.

Actually, thinking back, he is probably where Manu was at his age.

Not this past season it wasn't. In fact, Belinelli's 3-pt shooting downright STUNK.

    Correct.
He was a wonder 2 years ago. Improved 2 years ago, but this year he took a step back. One reason is his team was absolutely terrible at the start of the season and fired the coach. The owner actually sued the coach for swearing during games. An absolute joke.
He was pretty much the team and took a LOT of wild shots. I don't think that's the kind of environment a young guy should be playing in.
I am actually a bit surprised that he put himself into the draft.
I guess everyone knows he'll end up in the NBA and nobody wants to invest any money in bringing him into a better team for a year or two maximum.

I'd still take Rudy over him because Rudy's game is much more polished to this point...but then again Marco is younger, so there is time to mold his game and at ude.

As some have said, his bad shooting % this past year can be partially attributable to his poor shot selection...but there's no denying he has a beautiful stroke and deep range.

One thing in the Tim Duncan era that you can never have enough of is shooters...and this kid can shoot. Sign him up if he's there at #28...and Rudy is gone.

Saw Belinelli sink some jumpers and three pointers at the Wizards workout.

He can come off screens with ease and sink the shot.

    Beautiful jumper.

Appears to have put on some weight and was agressive attacking the basket.

I like the Spurs trading up and landing either Fernandez or Marco, and stashing them away in Europe for at least 1 year.....well, maybe not Fernandez, but Marco for sure.

This guy plays more like Ginobili than anyone I've seen. Check this video.

Word is that Toronto is trying to trade into the first round, possibly to grab Belinelli. If he falls to the Spurs at #28, do you think the Spurs pass on him, draft him and keep him, or trade him to a team like the Raptors for future 1st?

    Josh (Toronto): Raptors? Anything??

Chad Ford: Trying to get into the first round. Sounds like Calderon is bait. A team like the Hawks would be crazy to pass. I hear they also like Belinelli, but that would be later in the draft.

I'd be interested in trading him to Toronto, if they really want him that bad. I'm sure they like the prospect of putting him next to Bargnani, but if they want him, make them pay for it. Two future firsts or another package of picks.

On NBADraft.net, they are saying the Raptors would take Belinelli at 11 if they traded up to that spot and that the Pistons at 15 are thinking about taking him.

To me, he's like a Brent Barry who shoots more, doesn't have the court vision and isn't as tall.

I personally don't get it. If he were an American he'd not get this kind of reception.

He has youtubes of himself doing 360 degree dunks. That's enough for a European prospect to get drafted these days.
