Posey Willing To Do Sign-And-Trade
July 3, 2007 - 3:00 pm
Miami Herald -
The agent for veteran forward James Posey said Monday his client would agree to be used in a sign-and-trade deal if the Heat was unwilling to offer a new deal to stay in Miami.
Posey has attracted interest from Utah, Dallas, Denver, New Jersey, Cleveland and the Los Angeles Lakers , agent Mark Bartelstein said.
Posey is an unrestricted free agent and free to deal with another team without having to work out an arrangement with the Heat. But Bartelstein said Posey is willing to wait for the best opportunity.
''When it gets to this time of the year, you have to have an open mind about everything,'' Bartelstein said. ``[Posey] would like to go back to Miami, but he's going to make the best decision he can for him.''
Posey, 30, earned $6.3 million last season, his second with the Heat. Most of the teams interested in Posey reportedly plan to use either part or all of their midlevel exception salary of $5.5 million to $6 million a year. Any deal above that amount likely would require a sign-and-trade.

If he's expecting full MLE or more....I'd pass.
Let another team commit to a multi-year full MLE deal that further inhibits their salary cap situation.
Dallas did it last year to get Greg Buckner, the defense-oriented three-point specialist who didn't do jack for them in the playoffs....maybe they'll be dumb enough to repeat last year's mistake.
Would you want him for >MLE anyway?
Unreal.
I don't get how Posey, a 8/5 30 years old player, can hope to get more than the MLE ?
He can always try, after all Kapono has had a $24M contract.![]()
I would love to have Posey in black and silver, but not at the price he's asking. He may find a harsh reality of what the market value is for a player over 30 who averaged 7.7 points per game in his contract year. Who is going into luxury tax territory for him?
Id rather spend the time and effort on Nocioni obviously.
If he doesn't work out, then I'd start asking about him.
I guess that DUI was too much for the Spurs.Posey has attracted interest from Utah, Dallas, Denver, New Jersey, Cleveland and the Los Angeles Lakers , agent Mark Bartelstein said.
"Willing" to do a sign-and-trade?
Of course he is, he gets more money/years that way.
I'm willing to do an S&T, too.
Just wanted to put that out there, in case anyone was wondering.
Barry + Beno + Scola's rights + ShoogarBear for LeBron
I always thought he was a good defender.
Oh, and SpursWoman? That's a "T", not an "M".
