I find it interesting that Donnell Harvey is on the squad.
24 Frederic Adjiwanou F/C 6-8 230 07/17/80 St. Mary’s (CA) R![]()
I can't believe a player like him gets a summer league invite. He really sucks.
Yes, so did I.
Very odd/interesting.
Viktor Sanikidze
I'm looking forward to finally seeing this guy play. Does anyone have an opinion on his play this summer? Is it to showcase him for the league? Or is it to see if he is ready to contribute this year? Or it could be to see if it can light a fire under Butler's ass? Compete ion for roster spots is always a good thing..
Why, what kind of player is he?
You can watch them all live on nba.com.
I'm also interested to see that they're taking another look/giving another opportunity to both Charles Lee and Rich Melzer. I can't imagine that either is truly a possibility to make this roster, but bringing both back for another summer -- and perhaps another camp -- is at least noteworthy.
White and Butler are gonna pwn the summer league!
I doubt it. There's too many good players going to the Vegas league. Maybe they'll own Rocky Mt Revue though.![]()
Almost forgot Williams!Williams will do good too.
Quick thoughts:
C.J. Watson G 6-2 180 04/17/84 Tennessee R
Played on the Spurs summer league roster last year. Decent point guard.
3 Charles Lee G 6-3 210 11/11/84 Bucknell R
He was the Spurs last cut in training camp last year. Probably headed to Toros.
6 Viktor Sanikidze F 6-8 200 04/01/86 Republic of Georgia R
The Spurs second round draft pick in 2005. His first action in summer league.
8 Donnell Harvey F 6-8 220 08/26/80 Florida 5
Has been around the NBA for a while. Basically a young Bo Outlaw.
10 Marcellus Sommerville F 6-7 225 02/21/82 Bradley R
Good scorer. Doesn't do much else.
18 Darryl Hardy F 6-8 232 05/28/74 Winston-Salem R
Who? The football player?
19 Matt Haryasz F/C 6-11 230 03/20/84 Stanford R
Big and can shoot. Was a good prospect a couple years ago.
24 Frederic Adjiwanou F/C 6-8 230 07/17/80 St. Mary’s (CA) R
Frederic Adjiwan-who?
26 Marcus Williams F 6-7 205 11/18/86 Arizona R
The Spurs second round pick this year.
27 Rich Melzer F 6-8 225 12/08/79 Wisconsin-River Falls R
Back again. Played in training camp last year.
28 Cheyne Gadson* G 6-2 205 07/17/80 Oklahoma State R
Good point guard prospect. Played on the Toros last year.
33 James White G/F 6-7 190 10/21/82 Cincinnati 1
James White!
42 Keith Langford G 6-4 215 09/15/83 Kansas R
Small shooting guard prospect.
43 Regis Koundjia F 6-8 224 11/08/83 George Washington R
Last I saw this guy he was a scrub in college.
45 Jackie Butler C 6-10 260 03/10/85 Coastal Christian Academy (VA) 3
Time to see what he can do.
Anthony Roberson# G 6-2 180 02/14/83 Florida 1
This guy is a straight up baller. He's an NBA scorer but doesn't do much else.
HEAD COACH: Don Newman (NBA Summer League), Mike Wells (Rocky Mountain Revue)
Mike Wells coaching? Interesting.
ASSISTANT COACHES: Mike Wells, James Borrego, Brian Keefe, Vin Bhavnani, Reggie Geary, Jerome Allen, Derrick Pumaren
Hey, a Reggie Geary sighting. Last I heard he signed on to coach some CBA or USBL team or something. I wonder if that's the Jerome Allen who played with the Nuggets about a decade ago.
Overall, a pretty nice group of players. A little light at point guard, especially since Gadsen isn't going to be playing at both places. I guess the Spurs couldn't drag Beno out of the buffet line.
Good to see Melzer and Lee back. Hopefully they each get signed by the Toros. They're decent prospects.
Sanikidze should be fun to watch. It'll be interesting to see if he has any pro potential.
But basically, this team comes down to Butler, White and Williams. Those guys need to show something to solidify their spots on the Spurs roster. Hopefully they each log big minutes.
Roberson could be a steal. Harvey is an out of the blue but interesting addition to the squad.
I know virtually nothing about Gadson. Is he a guy that could potentially make the roster this year as a backup PG? Or is he not nearly that far advanced?
Frederic Adjiwanou played in french league this year for Le Mans.
His stats for this year : 2.5pts/2rbds in 10.3mpg.
He is a scrub.
No games against Seattle or Portland![]()
I was hoping to see Viktor go against Durant and Jackie go against Oden.
Guess Presti's prodigy Karaulov (sp?) is history.
