Played PG an awful lot in NO last year. Not sure how capable he is, but he's played the position at this level.

I would still trust Manu or Barry over him though....

Is Brown under contract right now? If so, it would take more than Beno's lazy ass to get him, and Pop probably isn't keen on getting him back anyway. There's far better options out there for FA or trade prospects.

There was a reason for that though. Chris Paul and Bobby Jackson were both hurt for a long time and Jannero Pargo was the 3rd option. After letting Pargo run the show for about 2 games they quickly signed Brown and assigned him the role of managing the game. While he was capable of running the show, he was obviously out of position. But even an out of position Brown was superior to Pargo (for all those Pargo lovers out there).

That was definitely a strange time in general though. Chris Paul, Bobby Jackson, Peja Stojakovic, David West and Marc Jackson all missed extended time...at the same time. Thats 3 starters (including the top 3 scorers) and two crucial backups. Everything went out the window and the coaching staff started trying weird things. So while Devin Brown legitimately put up good stats in his time with the Hornets, don't take the fact that he played PG as any indication that he ever should do so again.

Brown's like a less athletic version of James White. Give Beno at least one more year.

Brown averaged 5.8 minutes in 6 games. Udrih averaged 8.8 minutes in 5 games. Udrih did not play in game 6 or 7. Brown did not play in game 6 and played only one minute in game 7.

Devin graduated from my school district and he's considered a local boy that's done good, but IMO knowing Dee, it's better for him basketball-wise to leave home for now and make his mark elsewhere till he's strong enough to not fall back into the same patterns that held him back here in his hometown.

“They do a great job of their system and staying true to form,
making big plays in big moments,” Suns coach Mike D'Antoni
told reporters in Phoenix on Thursday. “That's what we're
trying to get. Mental toughness, being lucky, I don't know
    what it is.”

The Spurs, D”Antoni added, just seem to “believe a little bit
    more.”
    “All the time,” he said.

Manu was the backup point in 2005 as soon as Beno proved he couldn't handle a fullcourt press. Devin only got garbage time minutes.

Devin plays nothing like a point. Putting him there also takes away his more positive traits.

Devin has been forced to play point with certain teams because of injuries and poor play of other players, but he's not a point guard.

And also, I don't think the Spurs have any inclination to ever bring Devin back in any role. They could have done it on the cheap and didn't. He was a flake and a poor practice player here and I'm not sure if they would give him another shot.

I also remember reading in the paper that Parker was the only one trusted to bring the ball up against Hunter and Billups with the press on. Gino became the back up not because he was trusted to play PG, but because Hunter wasn't guarding him.

Whichever guard Hunter picked up, the other guard brought the ball up court. Unless that guard was Parker.

Everyone makes Beno out to be the fall guy here, but the fact was, Pop didn't trust anyone else other than Parker to do the job.

I'll see if I can find the story.

Kori, is absolutely right in this instance. Devin is friends with my friends brother. At at given opportunity, Devin would be out drinking until 7 AM. That isn't conducive to performing at a high level. I have much more incriminating information...but I'm not ready to thrown the guy under a bus yet.

For all its worth, Devin was well liked in Oklahoma City this last season and did good things while here. I really hope they resign him.

Devin Brown made it from West Campus to the NBA non drafted.

He took the toughest route you can go but yet he is lazy, a flake????

I'm sorry, but that is total BS. I know some of his friends from back in the day personally and this dude has overcomed more than most to get where he is today.

Pop is just to much of a ing to have him on the team, that's all.. has nothing to do with his character or will as an nba player...

He will never be a spur again, not because he's a flake, it's because pop is a ing that keeps on spending dollars on ty players like Bonner.

And yes... Bonner is a ty player... in fact book mark this take next year when that hole watches the playoffs from a chair again, while he is bankrolling 3 million dollars hanging onto Tim Duncan's jock.

Since when did staying out until 7 am make it difficult to play basketball???

I do believe their clocks are different.. they stay up late because they travel after games, they are young, they are the best athletes in almost any sport...

Who cares if they drink? You mean to tell me Michael, Magic, Kareem and Larry didn't party????????????

    WTF???

Exactly. It has nothing to do with his will or character, he just doesn't fit the mold.

Pop wouldn't want a player taking Manu's and Finley's minutes would he?
