If they offer Howard and Terry, they can land a big name. Howard isn't as good as everyone makes him out to be.
So i've heard just about everything from the mavs tryin to move Terry, trying to sign Gerald Wallace, all the way to trying to land KG. What do you guys think realistically should be their next move? I say we need to address low post scoring first and foremost. As much as I hate to say it, i'd love to somehow land Randolph. Someone help me here, who all is available to address this problem via free agency or otherwise? Mav fans discuss.

I'm not sure if Howard and Terry is enough to land KG, but if it is i'd do it in a heartbeat. Howard is an all star, KG is a superstar. One of the top 5-6 players in the league, Howard is maybe top 25-30. As much as I love Howard, it's something that would have to be done if the situation came up.
i'd like this too, but at the same time, getting rid of both howard and terry completely eliminates our perimeter game. Other than Dirk, we'd have zero consistent outside shooters (unless we're depending on Nick Fazekas *snicker*). And while it's best to play inside out, we still have to have some sort of outside shooting threat. Honestly, I'd do a Howard/Harris trade before I'd do a Howard/Terry.
Yea I feel the same way, but I figured the mav fans here would throw me to the wolves if I suggested giving up Harris and Howard. How many years are we going to have to wait before Harris has his breakout season? Isn't this going to be his 4th year?
I thought Devin Harris' breakout season was the 2006 series vs the Spurs? It was the year the Spurs passed the torch to the Mavs![]()
Yea come on, SpursDynasty. Let's at least be civilized in this thread.
he almost caught a rape charge during that series.
getting randolph would be nice, but where would he fit? both him and dirk cant play either the 3, or center. they are both 4's. we need a low post threat to be on the floor at the same time as dirk.
I am just throwing names out here but what about Jamal Maglore (spelling?) or possibly Darko?
Not interested in Randolph's lack of defense or the $84 million left on his contract. I would much rather see Desmond Mason brought in for the midlevel and go to war with what we have. Next year's free agent crop is better, Finley and Bradley's dead money comes off the books, and if there's another disappointing playoff finish, THAT would be the ideal time to make changes, not this year.
I loved the Jason Richardson trade, some of the mismatch problems against the Warriors are gone now.
Only problem with that is that our inside scoring will have to come from the center position. Good centers are hard to come by these days.
What we really need is for Dirk to quit being a pansy, hit the weights, and develop a low post game this summer. A power forward should be able to score in the low post. And the odds of us getting a center that can score inside are unlikely.
how about we keep the same team and not play the warriors in the first round...seriously we were a warrior loss or a clipper victory away from another trip to the WCF
Or how bout we address our problems so we actually WIN a championship this year? What we've been doing hasn't been working, we have no les to show for it, so don't you think it's time we address the problem that's been holding us back for years? We have absolutely NO LOW POST SCORING.
The Mavs just need to stop being a fake team. They sure "make" themselves look good while not actually being great.
Dirk for Kobe. What's the worst that can happen? Kobe doesn't want to be in LA, and Kobe will only help Dallas improve.
Dirk might not win the Lakers a championship, but better than having a disgruntled Kobe out there...
I don't think Kobe would help our low post scoring problem.
The mismatches dirk gives the spurs would be gone...put kobe in a mavs uniform and we never get by the spurs again...and where then is there a low post player available?...randolph certainly isn't after being delt to new york...i wouldnt give howard for him and i don't see who else the knicks would want...i'd give up terry, but they already have marbury...a few little tweaks and we're right back in this thing, or a garnett trade (which i hope happens)
According to SpursDynasty all we need to do is trade for Kobe, put him on Human Growth hormone, and after he grows to 7ft tall theres our low post scoring problem solved.
I think Dallas needs to worry about teams like the Miami Heat and Warriors, before they worry about the Spurs....
You can get by the Spurs every year for a decade and it wouldn't matter if you can't beat your NBA Finals opponent.
Did SpursDynasty just unwittingly admit that the Spurs are no threat to the Mavericks?
I expect them to sign Pj Brown and lay low for the rest of the FA period.
