If Marcus Williams doesn't work out, I'd like the Spurs try and go after Azubuike.
After the first win of summer league, the Spurs take on the undefeated Warriors. Marco Belinelli has been on fire, averaging 30 points per game in his first two contests. James White and Marcus Williams will try to slow them down.
Pierre Pierce and Kelenna Azubuike are also averaging more than 20 points for the Warriors. As a team, the Warriors are averaging 102 points per game. The Spurs are averaging 58.
This game will either get ugly or it'll showcase the defensive talents of some of the Spurs' perimeter players. I guess we'll find out.
Game starts at 7:30 PM CST.
If Marcus Williams doesn't work out, I'd like the Spurs try and go after Azubuike.
Azubuikie looks like he could be the real deal. But you have to wonder how much of those wonderful stats are because of the system the warriors run (even the SL team).
Regardless, Azubuikie might be hard to pry away from the Warriors since they traded away Richardson. Belinelli and Azubuikie might be expected to pick up the slack...and if the Italian kid spends another year in Europe then...the guy with the really strange name might be in line for a decent upgrade. What can the Spurs give him thats similar?
How Many Pts Well Bellineli Put Up Tonight Against The Spurs??
- My Guess Is 18
Azubuike has always been very talented. Showed it at Kentucky.
I wonder if the Spurs' young guys will get caught up in the free-flowing style that the Warriors will try to assert. I know the veterans on the big club are used to slowing that pace down and dictating tempo, but I wonder if Newman will be able to enforce that to his group of young guys.
Two things to look forward to, IMO:
1) How do White and Williams handle their perimeter-oriented attack? Will they be able to stop penetration and contest jumpers?
2) How will Jackie Butler do against their inside guys? Will he be on the court long enough to make an impact...meaning will the Warriors run him ragged or draw alot of fouls on penetration?
Hopefully those two things are answered positively....but regardless, it should be fun to watch.
BTW, does it concern anyone that the "watch" feature hasn't been available and the scoreboard has been down for both the 6 (EST) and 8 (EST) o'clock games?
Anyone have the "watch" feature available for the Spurs?
This is starting to piss me off. There is no "view" option.
Probably because the game hasn't started yet. The "Watch" option should come on soon.
Maybe because those games were on TV.
My NBA website is stuck with like a minute left in the 4th of the Kings-Wizards game. It has been that way for a long time. (must be a really long time out?)
Plus, the game that started at 6PM has no indication that it ever happened.
The video is awesome quality compared to the other games.
So good...

Much better quality at the Thomas and Mack Center. No crowd noise makes it weird.
Not sure NBA.com wants us watching it but I found it was a backdoor link.

THANKS MAN!
sanikidze is playing early, awesome
Watson actually passed it on a break. It was a bad pass and about five seconds too late but it's a step in the right direction.
thanks for the link. weird how you can barely hear anyhting, except the pa announcer is really loud. oh well. sanikidze is in pretty damn early. lets see how things turn out
White forcing the jumper early...not looking so good.
