That's some crazy . When is the New Braunfels extension supposed to be up and running?
City Base West will be a 450,000 sq. ft. shopping center at the northwest corner of New Braunfels Ave and Military Dr. And yes, a book store is planned for it.
Also, there's a 250,000 sq. ft. retail center with a Lowe's anchor planned across from City Base Landing.

w00t! Southeast pride!
Now if HEB will ever get off their corporate ass and do something where McCreless Mall used to be ...
Good to see the southside getting some love.
Huh? Construction is already underway, been so for a few months.
And to imagine, a short two years ago there was only HEB, Hollywood Video, Valero, Whataburger and Target. And three years ago, there was no Target.![]()
That area has come a long way in a small amount of time. City Base Landing (500,000 sq. ft.) is 100% and ready to begin phase two. Should be good.

Really? Last time I was there (for NBA Finals Game 2) it looked like the same torn down pile of rubble that had been sitting there for the last year. Glad to hear something is going on now.
I never could figure out why TPTB had decided that people in the SE part of town who wanted to spend money had to go across town to spend it. It's also ironic that it took the BRAC process to spur development over there.
Exciting to hear about the new bookstore - 20+ years too late for me but it will be a Godsend for students and other folks still there.
FWIW the link you provided in the next message is giving me a 404.
As a guy who grew up on the South Side I am very happy for that part of town. Its about time and I am more excited for the houses that are going to be built around Toyota.
It wasn't BRAC moreso Toyota that has spurred these developments. And what has lead to even more developments is the fact that the southeast side moreso the southside was that developers discovered there was a big demand for this stuff. All BRAC did was make the city go into a partnership with Brooks and what the city wanted and still does make City Base more medical and bioscience and with DTP Labs putting their HQ there, Baptist building a hospital and the possible landing of a 450 million dollar biolab research facility things are looking good.
