I don't have boxscore as it was a late game so the San Antonio paper didn't have it. Nor did they print it the following day. Sorry. Maybe someone else can track it down.

    Game 4

    Portland-79
    San Antonio-87

    Duncan 12 points/5 of 9 FG/7 rebs/3 asts/5 blocks/26 minutes
    J.O'Neal 23 points/8 of 13 FG/2 rebs/0 asts/0 blocks/31 minutes (Portland 2nd year)

    Game 5

    Utah-85
    San Antonio-59

    Duncan 14 points/6 of 10 FG/8 rebs/3 assists/2 blocks
    Ostertag 21 points/7 of 12 FG/10 rebs/0 assists/5 blocks

I got this from Henry Abbot's TrueHoop discussion section.

    http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/...im-Duncan.html

This whole "Tim Duncan got killed" thing is a little exaggerated to say the least. 'Tag' blocked a couple of his shots into the first row, well instead of 'using his left hand more' as Popovich insisted, Timmy went out and did EVERYTHING with his left hand, which he wasnt very good at, and still isnt to be quite frank. Im sure TD doesnt give a rats arse but finding out the way Tim REALLY played certaintly isnt going to comfort Oden and Durant fans.

But anyway, Summer League means nothing. The NBA is a completely different game, players are asked to concentrate on their strengths through team systems, something that just isnt possible in a Summer League compe ion where the players/coaches dont know each other. Oden and Durant will be great!

Ostertag KILLED Tim Duncan. Get off it Mo.

I put this link in the Ostertag thread, maybe it should be here too.
At the end of the TrueHoop article there is a link to a Slam interview Whitaker did with Duncan where he talks about it.

    http://slamonline.com/online/2007/07...-has-problems/

When Greg Oden struggled early, everyone brought up the story of how Tim Duncan also struggled during his first summer league appearance. I actually asked Duncan about that last summer, and he said…

ME: I heard before your rookie season you played summer league and Ostertag killed you in a game. They were talking about how some guys come out of college and it takes them time to adjust.

TIM: He threw my sh*t into the first and second row a couple of times. Jermaine (O’Neal) destroyed me. He was with Portland, was real young…

ME: But he’d already been in the League for a while?

TIM: Yeah, he destroyed me, and Tag threw my stuff into the first couple of rows a few times.

ME: It takes you time to adjust to the speed, or what?

TIM: I don’t even know what it was, to be honest with you. I just wanted to get the experience of playing against NBA players. I’d been in college for four years and that was great, but it’s a different speed, it’s a different strength, it’s a different set of players, and I wanted to play as much as possible, so I jumped in the league and I thought it helped me a bunch, it helped me tremendously.

    Why does this bother people?

Count the rings on his fingers, look at where each player is. Losing and getting blocked and whatever was part of the process of getting at where he is. Be thankful.

I agree with you, but I think that is the point. Most people are just trying to point out that just because a guy struggles in summer leauge does not mean he will not become a dominate player in the NBA.

I just find it interesting that it's completely untrue. By those lines, he neither struggled, nor was he even close to dominated.

The way i see it they could have chosen any of the last 10 top picks, successful ones.

If that isn't struggling and being dominated, I don't now what is. Especially against Oster freakin' tag.
