My apology if there is already a thread for this, but I thought it'd be good for us all to support Tony Parker and there might be enough of us to get him the upset over Federer.
Just click on the launch Who's Now link and vote for TP!
ESPN is trivializing sports, they are their own worst enemy.
If Vince loses to Sharapova, Tony's getting his ass handed to him by Federererererer.
I looked at this when it kicked off. They had TP as one of the 64 but not TD. And before you start going off on "well it's who's hot NOW" they had Fat Shaq in there too.
the Ever Sucking Posterboy Network.
General rule on espn.com: vote for the hot chick. Federer... not so much a hot chick as Sharapova.![]()
Thanks for the link. I was meaning to get to that and you made it even easier.
I've voted for Federer but no Duncan, while Shaq is in, is BS.
do you get the whole concept of whos now?
I won't vote. IMO this "Hot Now" contest ranks second in the "stupidest ESPN ideas" column by a razor-thin margin to the mock drafts of a few years ago.
What about ESPN Hollywood hosted by Mario Lopez?
I voted for homeboy but Tony should call up Dirk to ask what it's like to get bounced in the first round.
This contest is based on performance AND the players' real life personality, hotness value or whatever. In that case Duncan has really none. When people talk about how great he is on TV you can almost hear it in their voice that they don't want to admit it because he's not flashy like the Kobes and Lebrons, but he is the most dominant player since MJ so it's like they are forced to give him props.
I hope Peyton Manning and Tom Brady get paired in a later round. I'd like to see how the panelists on ESPN debate Tom Brady's multiple hot girlfriends and his 3 rings over Peyton's endorsements, TV commercials, 1 ring, and him being the best QB in the NFL.
We'll see how far Eva can carry Tony in this contest but I think he goes out in the first round.
A 1-time Finals MVP vs. a multiple-time Wimbledon champ? Damn.
I still cant believe Duncan wasn't there, talk about underappreciated. I guess Nash and Dirk there are too, no?
This whole thing is all about ESPN justifying (or modifying) which athletes get its love. When Lebron is the last standing NBA player, the ESPN folks can say "well, you see -- the world loves Lebron and just can't get enough of him, so we have to pimp him to satisfy our viewers."
sadly nash was there whats so now about him?
This "NOW" thing is so ing re ed, I swear to God I change the channel every time it comes on, I dont care if its Tony Parker or not on there. The is ing stupid and ESPN is probably turning a lot of people off to their Sportscenter shows other than me...I know I go to Fox now when I can
BSPN and there American idol contests. It's not about pure sports achievement anymore, it's about the networks and the power they have. Lebron is flashy and Ducan is boring because they tell us on national television over and over again until it's so. It's nothing but high tech sports propaganda. But thank God for history. Because when the smoke clears and it always does. Still standing there will be Duncan, and all his Championships.
I think Tony will win. NBA is far more popular then Tennis.
but the spurs probably are not.
Another brilliant concept by E!SPN.
wilbon, out!!
