Let's say the Spurs begin to make a le run (for s and giggles). If your Tim Duncan at what point do you say enough...7 or 8. Maybe 10? Do you think Tim would continue the streak, for the sake of setting a record? Overtaking Bill Russell?

Tim will retire when he's tired of playing basketball. No sooner, no later.

Yeah, that's the easy answer. You don't think something like breaking Bill Russell's record would have an impact on whether he continued to play. Again, this is speculatory, with the consideration that Tim is blessed with good health.

If Tim is seriously starting to break down but very near to a major record then I could seem him staying just to break it.

Somehow I don't see Tim having the kind of ego that lives just to break records. I too believe that as long as Tim is having fun doing what he's doing, he will play. When he isn't, he will hang it up.

It's a bull thread because the league is too even today for an 11 ring dynasty to develop.

But fair enough, that's what we're all here for.

    I agree with Leetonidis.

I don't think it would qualify as divine intervention, but I would be quite delighted with 2 more.

If Tim were going to run out of fingers and win one for the 'nads like Russell, he needed at least '04 and '06.

I'm not saying Tim will achieve this. The question was merely for the sake of arguement. I would rather discuss this than the numerous "HOLT CAT" conspiracies. I used to think Tim would be the type to retire moderately early, maybe 34, 35. After this year though, seeing him healthy (keyword: HEALTHY), also the comments made during the playoffs, it would appear that there is more of a desire to achieve greatness than previously thought. So, I was just wondering if something such as breaking Bill Russells record would be a significant factor in determining whether to return for another season or not.
