OUch that sucks...Clippers have bad luck...best to blow up the team and start over
....if anybody thought the Clippers had any chance of making the playoffs before this...that should pretty well be toast.
Man, hopefully this doesnt mess up his whole game
So he'll be out 4-6 months at the very least
can clippers ever catch a break
sterling my never try to win
he spends money and his clippers get hurt
Doesn't that take a full year to heal right? Sucks for Brand good guy.
the clippers have the tiest luck ever.... either that or they need to hire better personal trainers
WOW, take him off your fantasy draft lists

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- In the latest nasty injury blow for the Los Angeles Clippers, cornerstone forward Elton Brand ruptured his left Achilles tendon on Friday during his usual daily workout.

Brand, 28, is expected to undergo surgery next week and joins teammate Shaun Livingston on the list of long-term injury victims for the Clippers.
Achilles tendon injuries typically sideline NBA players for at least a year, which would theoretically threaten Brand's availability for all of the 2007-08 season.
But ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports that the Clippers have received a preliminary medical indication that Brand will be sidelined only six months. If so, Brand would be in line for a comeback in February.
"It's unfortunate that this had to happen," Clippers vice president of basketball operations Elgin Baylor said in a statement. "But knowing Elton and how dedicated he is to his profession and how hard he works, I believe he'll be back 100 percent as good as ever."
Brand recently withdrew from Team USA to rehabilitate a knee injury after averaging 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season, in which L.A. finished 40-42 and just missed the playoffs. In his breakout 2005-06 campaign, Brand averaged 24.7 points and 10.0 rebounds and helped lead the Clippers to the second round of the playoffs and a Game 7 loss to Phoenix, their most successful season of a two-decade Los Angeles existence.
The difference between Brand and Livingston, though, is that Livingston's injury is considered career-threatening. Livingston is out indefinitely after dislocating his left kneecap against Charlotte in late February, with an awkward landing causing damage to almost every part of the knee.

So he's out for the season?
Wow. I was just thinking earlier today about the Spurs trying to get him when he was a restricted FA.
Shouldn't happen to such a great guy and franchise man, but injuries suck for assholes, too.
that really blows because not only does it take close to a year to recover but a lot of the time an achilles injury is a career ending injury or the player never comes back to fully recover at all.
And signing Knight too... ouch.
Maybe they'll be looking to deal him now. We could use a backup PG.
What other pro atheletes have done this and do you remember the before/after?
Only one i can think of is Vinny Testaverde.
Dominiqui Wilkens.
Many thought Wilkins would retire after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon midway through the 1991–92 season. That just made him more determined to come back—and he did, with one of the best seasons of his 11-year career. For his efforts, Wilkins was honored by several sports publications as the NBA Comeback Player of the Year. Showing no traces of the injury, Wilkins blazed to an average of 27.7 points per game in the first month of the season. He then suffered a setback when he fractured the ring finger on his right hand on December 15, sitting out the next 11 games. But Wilkins returned to rack up 29.4 points per game on .487 shooting in January, then added 31.5 points per game on .519 shooting in February. By the end of the season, his scoring average was up to 29.9, second in the league behind Michael Jordan’s 32.6. When Wilkins scored his 31st point in a February 2 game against the Seattle SuperSonics, he broke Bob Pet ’s franchise scoring record of 20,880 points. He had developed into a full-fledged three-point threat, hitting 120 of 316 attempts from long range to shatter his previous career bests. Wilkins’s remarkable comeback was acknowledged with a selection to the All-NBA Second Team.
Oooh, nice call on Dominique. I'd forgotten about that.
