Jordan sank "THE Shot" against Cleveland.

Tayshaun put "THE Block" on Reggie (there are probably other candidates for this one, but hey...)

What other plays deserve to be "THE" play?

"THE Shove" is an easy one, but are there any others?

I can think of several, first and foremost is Horry's tip-pass shot for the game-winning three as time expired vs. Sacramento. The Next would be Kevin Johnson's baseline slam over Hakeem Olajuwon to give Phoenix the lead late in the fourth of Game 7 of the 94-95 semifinals. Unfortunately, it's followed by Mario Ellie's "kiss off" game-winning three to Phoenix in Game 7 of the 94-95 semifinals.

Going way back, and it's unfortunate it didn't win them the game, but Gar Heard's triple OT forcing shot when everyone in the Garden thought the Celtics had already won is led, "Shot HEARD round the world" and was a HUGE shot for the ages.

I can also think of, "And there's a steal by Bird! Underneath to DJ and he lays it up and IN!!!"

Not NBA, but Hakim Warrick's game-saving shot-block of Hinrich or Langford (can't remember which) in the 2003 le Game was HUGE.

as much as most people will want to discredit that play, it was an absolutely amazing play. and we cant say that it shouldnt get credit because we didnt win the le, because Jordan's "The Shot" was considered one of the greatest shots of all time, but they didn't even make it to the finals. the game itself is just as memorable, possibly even more epic considering the rivalry between the two teams, the Spurs were the reigning champs, and that it went to OT.

Good one. I've heard that play referred to as "The Steal" before, although I think the case could be made that that le belongs to the moment when it was announced that "with the 56th pick in this year's draft the San Antonio Spurs select Emmanuel...Gino-beelee."

And then you have "The Step"- the moment that got Ewing suspended against the Heat in 97.

What about "The Layup" by MJ in the Finals against the Lakers when he went up for the dunk with his right and switched to his left for the layup?

THE layup still belongs to Dr. J's reverse against the Lakers. MJ's was nice but unnecessary. He could have dunked that if he wanted to, but his claim was that SAM PERKINS was about to challenge the shot.

Much as I hate to say it, I might give "The Steal" to Bird's pickoff of Zeke's inbounds pass.

Only a Rockets fan who is pissed that his team only had two years of relevance in the league over a decade ago would consider that worthy of being led...

Point taken. But it did make a nice spot on the "Be Like Mike" commercials.

A good candidate for THE SHOT would be Rex Chapman's falling away, falling out bounds, off balanced, catch-it-in-the-air-and-turnaround-then-release three point shot.
