Alston thinks Mitc should stop coaching as if he's still a player. ``He's got to leave that to the side,'' said Alston, who says not everyone can play like Mitc did. ``He was a tough, hard-nose defender. For some of us that's not our makeup
What a dumbass thing to say. Whine that your coach demands you to play tough hard nose D?
Defense is more mental than physical. Anyone IF THEY WANT TO ENOUGH can play D.

Thank god the SPurs didnt sign this clown.
Ballas = Headaches
Good night now Ghost...
How dare a coach demand his players play tough and hard.
But, we shouldnt demand this of them, nooooo, be nice to them.
Hug them. You dont have to play defense, nooo, just shoot, yeah, your shot is waaayyyy off, but shoot anyways.
What a little ing prick.
I'd hope he was benched for the rest of the year...but thats too easy.
Play his ass 48 minutes a night till he collapses from exhaustion.
I thought he was going to quit, now he wants to coach and be the GM.
have him "skip to my lou" his ass back to the And 1 tour.
It's funny, this guy is as ghetto and "street" as Jax, whom half this board loves. I guess seeings he hasn't become the prodigal son playing for SA, it's okay to reem him then, right?
Oh well, nothing new.
Alston would instantly be the second-best player on the Spurs.
He can score, hit a million 3s, and actually set up teammates for assists.
And with Duncan cleaning up for him, he'd actually look decent on D.
He's black, he must be good, right Ghost? Too bad about Barry, that was a dumb ing idea.
Alston had better go back to playing with the Professor "OOOOH BABIEEEEE!"
That's all we need is another mental wuss on the team. Rasho is already enough for us to about.
You just have never "gotten" that the game is at LEAST 50% between the ears, GW. Mr. and 1 fails miserably in that department. People who fall apart at the first sign of adversity are of no use to the Spurs.
Oh, and Udrih is outshooting him from 3, (.467 > .348) and doesn't cry every time something doesn't go his way.
It's not about ghetto or street. Jackson has a pair, but no brain. We like him anyway. Rafer doesn't. He's a pussy. End of story. It's funny, this guy is as ghetto and "street" as Jax, whom half this board loves.
thats silly. alston is compared to ginobili and parker
We said the same about Barry....He can score, hit a million 3s, and actually set up teammates for assists.
And with Duncan cleaning up for him, he'd actually look decent on D.
Seeing as San Antonio is #7 in apg and #1 in opponent apg and assist differential; that is officially a nonargument.
That said, Alston would like it here -- it's the kind of atmosphere he had in Miami -- but there's no need for him.
My balla question of the day would be why is Jamal Crawford already trade bait after not even two months as a Knick? (And Ghost needs to immediately unclench -- I think trading him for Carter is nuts)
except for that whole lack of defense thingAlston would instantly be the second-best player on the Spurs.

How is Alston better than Manu?
Did that kid post on your computer again, G-Dub?
We Belong
With apologies to Pat Benatar
We belong, we belong to the light
Many times I've tried to tell you
Many times I've cried alone
Always I'm surprised how well you
Cut my feelings to the bone
Don't want to leave you really
I've invested too much time
To give you up that easy
To the doubts that complicate your mind
We belong to the light
We belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words
We've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace
For worse or for better
We belong, we belong
We belong together
Maybe it's a sign of weakness
When I don't know what to say
Maybe I just wouldn't know
What to do with my strength anyway
Have we become a habit
Do we distort the facts
Now there's no looking forward
Now there's no turning back
When you say
We belong to the light
We belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words
We've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace
For worse or for better
We belong, we belong
We belong together
Close your eyes and try to sleep now
Close your eyes and try to dream
Clear your mind and do your best
To try and wash the palette clean
We can't begin to know it
How much we really care
I hear your voice inside me
I see your face everywhere
Still you say
We belong to the light
We belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words
We've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace
For worse or for better
We belong, we belong
We belong together

If this is the Stats,
fg% 3pt% ft%
Alston .400 .348 .794 4.00rpg 6.8apg 1.52spg .00bpg 14.4ppg
Ginobili .453 .408 .792 4.70rpg 4.2apg 1.82spg .36bpg 14.5ppg
I don't see how Manu is "better" than Alston, too. And, based on the Stats, I don't see how good Manu's defence is. Beside, how much ($) do Manu make in compared to Alston?
Or could Manu or TP handle Alston in the game (SA Vs TR) last few weeks ago?
I mean, we have to be fair when we are making judgement on players. Most of them practice hard and play hard on the court. It is easy for us (who sit comfortably in our living room watching TV) to say "you should do this... you are too awful... you should do that... etc".
We are all the fans of the Spurs. But, that doesn't mean "blind love". While we are cheering for our Spurs, that does not mean we can step on other team (saying how bad so and so is). Manu is a good player, and so does Alston.
Beside, I don't think playing GOOD defence is as sickdsm said to be "Defense is more mental than physical. Anyone IF THEY WANT TO ENOUGH can play D." Mentality is an important aspect of defence; BUT, physical strength is another important aspect of defence. Mentality alone does NOT cons ute good defence. You HAVE to HAVE both MENTALITY + PHYSICAL STRENGTH for good defence. For example, do you expect Steve Kerr to play so-called good defence? Steve Kerr could play "hard" D BUT not good D.
