I have a sign bet going with A-Train, whoever's team finishes with the worst record has to sport a sig of the other's choosing. So far, Astros are one back in the loss column but have played one more game than the Rangers. So it's a virtual tie right now to see who will stink it up less down the wire.

I wonder if today's shakeups will have an adverse affect on the Astros. My sig can only hope!

Seriously, the Rangers are a better team than the Astros, but they may finish with a worse record because they have to play legitimate teams like the Angels, Mariners, Red Sox, Yankees, Indians, etc. They don't have the luxury of playing ty NL teams all the time with barely .500 records like the Cardinals, Cubs, and Brewers. From what I recall, the Rangers owned the Brewers in their series this year, and that was back when the Rangers were really sucking and the Brewers were actually doing well. They were 9-6 in interleague play at a time when they were worse than they are now. Now that the Rangers pitching staff has solidified somewhat they would destroy anyone in the NL Central.

Obviously you haven't watched the Rangers of late and are going by what you have heard in the media for the last several years. The Rangers bullpen is much more consistent than the Astros, and since the All Star game the defense is at least as good if not better. It was the starting pitching and hitting that has been the biggest problem this year. That said, since the trading deadline the Rangers have had fairly consistent starting pitching but not much hitting. Before the 30 run game against the O's the Rangers had not scored 30 runs in the previous 9 games combined, and lost a lot of of 2-1, 3-2, and even a couple of 1-0 games.
