Poor quality, but you can still see that he would have dominated in the NBA.

I really miss Sabonis...That squeaky Michael Jackson voice whining to the referees after Shaquille pounds him to the floor...

    Hey He Foul Me...

If he never got hurt, he would be the best center in NBA for many years... Magic Johnson said that...

had the political situation allowed him to play in the NBA in his prime, wow what could have been.

Like if Ralph Sampson stayed healthy and played with Olajuwon etc.

That was a little, skinny Robinson in that video. Young kid. If you put both in their primes DRob schools Sabonis. Sabonis would have been a good center in the NBA, but probably not great.

FYIO Sabonis is just 8 months older than DRob.

Um, no to both statements. DRob would not have schooled him, and he would have been HoF had he been able to play his entire career in the NBA versus the Red Army team.

That little skinny Robinson in the video scored 20 points and the US was up by a ton at halftime. Sabonis did most of that during an unsuccessful second half comeback.

Sabonis had the best hands for a center in history.
Remember he was also a more than decent 3 pts shooter.

Sabonis was the greatest all-around center in the history of the game. He was dominant in the low post, could shoot from outside, and could pass far better than most point guards. What other center (or power forward for that matter) could do all those things as well as Arvydas Sabonis? Answer: none.

It kills me that this guy did not get to the NBA til he was in his 30's (and after terrible injuries had hobbled him). The Blazers would've been a dynasty if he'd been with them in his prime. And we would have seen some of the sweetest, most magical plays ever by a big man.

    It's just a shame.....

Even though Portland had Rasheed Wallace and Brian Grant in their prime...They could never overcome how slow & soft Sabonis was...Sabas was so bad that he made average players like Samaki Walker look dominant...Nick Van Exel would back Sabonis down shoot & laugh...It was like...”Are the Euros leagues really that bad” “we all thought Sabonis was going to be a good NBA player...Instead he became a joke....

I would take Lisa Leslie any day over Slow-bonus in his prime...

He was killing David Robinson in those clips.

Greatest passing center of all time.

And, isn't he considered the greatest European player ever?

Yeah, it would be nice to have watched him play in his prime without getting injured.

Imagine Kevin McHale at 7'3" with Bird-like passing ability. He was a brilliant defender in his prime and surprisingly athletic at his size.

At one point the best 3 players in the world were listed in this order by John Wooden:

    Oscar Schmidt
    Arvydas Sabonis
    Michael Jordan
