Troubled star's dice with August 28, 2007 12:00am
HOLLYWOOD star Owen Wilson has reportedly been rushed to hospital after trying to commit suicide at his Santa Monica home.
Wilson was found by his brother, Andrew, who called paramedics.
Sources said the A-list actor had slashed his wrists and was found with a nearly empty bottle of pills next to him.
Police and an ambulance responded to a 911 call from Owen's house about noon on Sunday and witnesses claim his wrist was bandaged at the hospital.
Wilson, who starred in a string of Hollywood comedy hits including Zoolander, was last night reported to be in a stable condition.
Speculation has been rife about Wilson's private life since he split with rising star Kate Hudson a couple of months ago.
The couple fell in love when in Melbourne just over a year ago to promote their movie You, Me and Dupree.
They were seen riding along the St Kilda foreshore and eating at Caffe e Cucina, in Chapel St and St Kilda's Arrivederci, among other top restaurants.
They were back in Australia in April when Hudson filmed Fool's Gold in Queensland.
Their relationship was strained when Hudson's ex, Chris Robinson, visited her on the Gold Coast with their three-year-old son Ryder.
By June 5, Wilson and Hudson had reportedly split.
Hudson, daughter of Hollywood legend Goldie Hawn, then began dating American MTV star Dax Shepard.
Wilson got his big break in the 2000 comedy action hit Shanghai Noon, starring opposite martial arts star Jackie Chan.
He later co-starred with good friends Ben Stiller and Will Ferrell in the 2001 offbeat comedy Zoolander.
He got his dramatic break starring with Gene Hackman in the 2001 action film, Behind Enemy Lines.
The next year he was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on the screenplay of The Royal Tenenbaums.
Wilson returned to making "buddy comedies" in 2002 with the release of I Spy, in which he co-starred with Eddie Murphy.
He paired with Chan in the 2003 hit Shanghai Knights, then another turn with Stiller in Starsky & Hutch.
His biggest film success came in 2005, when he teamed with comedian Vince Vaughn in the smash hit Wedding Crashers, which grossed more than $200 million in the US.
Last year, Wilson provided the voice for "Lightning McQueen" in the Disney/Pixar hit, Cars.
He later played a supporting role, again with Stiller, in the hit, Night at the Museum.
Wilson has four movies in his schedule for 2008.
US entertainment media went into overdrive after Wilson was taken to hospital.
The editor-in-chief of the National Enquirer said Wilson had transferred from St Johns to another LA hospital, where he was accompanied by his brothers Andrew and Luke, both actors.
Entertainment news website TMZ.com said it had confirmed Wilson had been taken to hospital, but could not confirm his condition.
People magazine reported the actor's parents also visited him at the hospital.

Depression sucks. Im a big Owen fan to I hope he can fight through all of this.
He always seemed so upbeat.
Guess you never know what's inside.
Depression is a terrible thing, but honestly if your going to kill yourself you don't fail unless you want people to find out so you can get attention.
Poor guy. Hope he gets well.
Maybe they can fix his schnozz while he is in there.
I always wondered why he didn't fix it when he started to get famous.
Celebrities are real people too.
When I heard about this earlier this morning I felt bad. I hope he gets everything together.
That's sad. He is one of my favorite comedic actors.
Hope he gets better.
By the way how you been doing Dirk????![]()
Celebrity is a thing I would never want. You have no clue how ty it is to never have a private moment and to have all of these crazy ass people you never met coming up to you all of the time never leaving you alone and pissing you off. Not to mention the damn photographers. I feel sorry for them - money can buy you a house and a car, but it won't buy you peace.
Found this. He's in "good condition."

Wilson in Good Condition, Hospital Says
SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) - Owen Wilson was reported in good condition Monday, a day after he was taken from his home by ambulance, a hospital spokeswoman said.
"I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time," the 38-year-old actor said in a statement released through publicist Ina Treciokas.
No further comments were expected, she said.
Wilson was at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, said hospital spokeswoman Cynthia Harding. He was initially taken to St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica.
He "is here in good condition," Harding said.
It wasn't known why Wilson was hospitalized, but a neighbor said a police car, fire truck and ambulance were outside the actor's gated house around noon Sunday.
"These guys were kind of taking their time taking a stretcher out of the ambulance, then they went into the house," said neighbor Geoffry White, 61, who lives directly across the street.
Santa Monica Fire Battalion Chief Jose Torres said Monday the department responded to a call that involved Wilson. The chief wouldn't comment on Wilson's injuries or condition, citing federal privacy laws.
Wilson's screen credits include "Wedding Crashers" and "You, Me and Dupree." He was nominated for a screenwriting Oscar for 2001's "The Royal Tenenbaums."
Man, I hope he is fine. I love his work.
Kate Hudson is a beauty. He must have seriously fallen for her which is understandable.
Just seemed like a feeble attempt for attention. I mean he failed to cut his wrists.....how ing hard is it. The wounds were superficial, come on.
I hope he gets the help he needs.
I think it's hard to do because it hurts. he probably wanted to die so as NOT to hurt!! I hope he gets better.
I hope he overcomes this. He is hilarious. One of my favorites.
Who knows what the cause of it was. But for someone want to go to that extent they need help. I hope he is able to find the help and balance that he needs in his life. No matter if its a celebrity/average joe, many people can suffer from depression etc.
Do or do not. There is no try.
Poor Homewrecker.
I had a chance to work with him, and he's actually one of the most introverted people I've ever met. He turns it on for the cameras, and when they're not running, he barely talks to anybody. He just looks depressed, which obviously, he is.
I'm sorry. I hope he's ok and all that, but I can't stand this guy. Every movie he's in, I cringe. He's such an ass in Meet the Parents. The only thing funny about him, to me, is his Mississippi River-like nose. There you have it.
I like him for the most part, but I do agree with your "homewrecker" comment. But speaking of cringing, have you ever seen "The Minus Man"? He is so totally creepy in that film, I actually started to like him better!!
