    The San Antonio Spurs today announced that Francisco Elson has suffered a blow-out fracture of his left eye orbit. The injury occurred on August 19 in a game against Belarus when Elson was stuck by an errant elbow.

    Elson was examined earlier today in San Antonio. He will have surgery within the next week. Elson is expected to be able to resume limited basketball activity one week after his surgery. Elson should be cleared for full contact by mid to late September. The injury will force him to wear a protective face mask throughout the 2007 preseason.

    this nearly happened to me last week during training, haha

    i got laid out by one of my team mates, got away with just concussion and a massive black eye.

    I bet he wears the mask all year. Actually, this article looks the same as Kori's, but it says that he'll wear the mask all year and not just in preseason. Interesting tidbit.
