THE COLD FRONT HAS MOVED INTO OUR NORTHERN AREAS BASED ON WIND/DEW POINT/CLEARING TRENDS. THE MAIN FORECAST ISSUES ARE CLEARING TONIGHT...TEMPS FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...THEN THE PROSPECTS FOR ARCTIC AIR AND PRECIP LATE NEXT WEEK. THE 12Z NCEP MODELS ARE IN GOOD AGREEMENT THROUGH 48 HOURS...WILL GO WITH GFS SINCE IT EXTENDS LONGER AND VERIFIED BETTER WITH THE MID AND UPPER LEVEL PATTERNS THE PAST FEW DAYS.
ISENTROPIC LIFT HAS PRETTY MUCH ENDED ACROSS OUR AREA...AND CLEARING WILL WORK FROM NORTH TO SOUTH THROUGH THE EVENING. By the time arctic air gets here, it doesn't mean it's cold enough to snow. Also, the airmass is so shallow that even if it's below freezing on the surface, if it's not above the surface and we still manage to get precip, it'll be ICE.
No snow, bank on it.

Both Weather.com and Accuweather.com are predicting possible s.n.o.w. for Xmas or Xmas eve.

Well, it gets closer and closer and the models are coming to a consensus that there is a good chance for precip later this week while tempatures are below freezing.
The only factor here is how much moisture is in the air.
Right now the discussion simply mentions flurries, but even that would be pretty odd.
I'm never in the holiday mood around Christmas, but I must admit if we get flurries, that'll make my day.
