Is it more to finance a used vehicle than it is to finance a new vehicle?

A lot of times you get better interest rates financing a new vehicle

Some finance companies will only finance used vehicles less than five years old

Used vehicles will have a higher rate, but you avoid the gigantic 1st yr depreciation on most models.

If it has over 50 or 60k miles and/or is more than 4 to 5 years old you won't find many willing to give you a loan on the vehicle.

they have the best rates, and are really easy to work with, and they offer pretty cheap warranties.

alot like USAA, but easier to join.

I have USAA, and have financed with both. RBFCU is better.

SSFCU offers good rates on used vehicles. They are pretty good with giving you discounts if you put so much down and choose the automatic draft. You will get better interest rates on a new vehicle though.

The smartest thing you can do is start with your own bank and go from there, actually start with your credit reports so you know where you stand FICO wise then your bank. Shopping your credit around isn't a good idea.

I would say so since the new vehicle should cost more then the used one

Now thats a classic duckism there. A new Hyundai could cost a lot less than a year old BMW740. He was asking about interest rates. I recently heard an ad on the radio from a credit union offering the same rates on used as new. I think it was RBFCU.

Typically if you are a year to two years old you'll still qualify for new rates. A lot will depend on credit.

That's exactly what I was talking about. A friend is looking into getting a used 2007 Camry with only 4000 miles.
