=I don't eat out as much, and I download more movies=
It's no big secret gas is 2.99 a gallon and money is tight these days so what have you done different to make ends meet?
What have you done to save money?
=I don't eat out as much, and I download more movies=
I don't do these things FOR the money, I do them to reduce my resource footprint, but they also save money:
ride a bike instead of driving
shop at local farmer's markets (fresh food, not processed)
turn off appliances at the wall when not in use
cook in bulk and freeze what's left over
re-wear clothing that isn't dirty and doesn't stink (rather than washing after 1 wear)
...just off the top of my head.
oh so not only do you not drive when you're drunk, but you dont drive at all!! wow, good for you for not getting behind the wheel after tossing back a few!you're very responsible.
Oh And, you can get a ticket for riding your bike drunk in America.
Ah RNR, all of us are so proud of you. And especially
want to "thank you". Cause it leaves more for me to
use. I like to leave a huge resource footprint.
yes, bravo!
Monthly budget, spend every dollar on paper before the month starts.
Cut out the crap in the budget that's more of a "want" than a "need".
Don't eat out, cook at home.
Make a plan for saving for the future.
I know his stance on drinking and driving, but your post sounded more like criticism for NOT drinking and driving.
We're trying to eat out less, we take one vehicle in to work since we work very close to each other, 'sack just cut out all the 'extras' on the landline, take lunch to work and bring sodas from home rather than buy them in the expensive vending machine in the break room.
Sack says:
the cable bill is next.
i think i'm gonna get the newspaper delivery cut to only Sunday.
get rid of at least one cable movie package ... the movies have been so lousy lately, i hardly watch them anyway.
and all that food in the freezer that i bought at costco because i was so hungry and it looked sooo good?
we're eating it.
I'm thinking about going back to highlighting my own hair again.
see thread about how a decent night gets ed up in the troll forum
We did the same with the paper going only to weekends.
Dumped both HBO and Starz off the Dish because there wasn't crap on them and don't miss them at all.
I'd also suggest
My ex-husband lead a Dale Ramsey seminar at his church. He's definitely got some great ideas that can be put into action.
Good luck with that. I've called about 3 times, short paid and everything else I can think of, but I still get it everyday...and all I want is Sundays.![]()
rothIRA.
By the time I retire I will be Daily Driving a C4500 and pissing everyone off.
.
I'm 21 and a BIG fan of Dave Ramsey. I don't agree with him about NO debt (there is good debt) but he puts you in the right mindframe fo sho.
You have a land line?
If you're going to cancel your subscriptions, would you at least do me the benefit of reading my stories online (and only my stories... maybe I get a page view bonus).
To save money I make sure that I only eat at a restaurant on the weekends...if at all.
I also downgraded to RoadRunner Lite, instead of having regular Roadrunner. It's funny because Time Warner eventually upgraded me to regular Roadrunner internet FOR FREE!!!
I used to have a ritual of drinking a Propel and eating beef jerky after I finished a workout. I quit doing that and it saves me money.
Instead of buying individual Monster energy drinks, I buy the 24 pack from Costco.
I also quit drinking at bars as much. I drink at home most of the time now. I am married, so it's not like I am on the prowl or something.
While living on the AmeriCorps minimum wage standard I learned a lot about cutting back - I think I had all of two drinks at a bar that entire year, I learned to cook a lot of new things well (for instance, if I roast a whole chicken at home it costs me about $4, and I have leftovers for chicken salad, etc - and pork tenderloins are some of the best cheaper cuts of meat ever), and I cut way back on going to the movies.
One of the good things I got to put into practice more was using state parks as entertainment - got me outside a lot more, and while it may use some gas to get there, it's still usually less than a bar tab costs. Manny and I are using my last three day weekend for a while to go to Guadalupe Mountains National Park and Carlsbad Caverns this week, and it gets us out of town while cutting way back on typical vacation costs. Camping equipment is a great investment.
I really want to make the Guadalupe Mtn run. Let us know how it goes and post pics.
Will do - neither Manny nor I have been there yet, we're pretty excited. I've somehow never been to either of the national parks in Texas - we'll get around to Big Bend pretty soon I hope.
