Too bad. I used to like Mario Elie.
Haven't seen it posted yet...sorry if it's a repeat.
Story on the AP/news soon.
why? because he works for the Mavs now?
he just wants to be a head coach in the NBA. i think he wanted to work with the rockets but adelman declined.
glad the Mavs are giving him a shot to break into the coaching side of the league.
best of luck mario
Mavs>Spurs![]()
dont take that to heart. That is kind of the part of this rivalry. She was really saying that she didnt like that he went to a team that she didnt like. Though just like Avery, Mario wasnt being courted by the Spurs and was offered a job position here.
I dont love that Finley went to the spurs but I am not calling him a backstabbing sob. He was cut (at the time he didnt want to leave) and wanted to stay in the state and go to a team with a chance to win a ring. I couldnt fault him for that. He played his heart out for this franchise and left due to a business decision by Cuban.
In relation to the move, I dont mind it. While it wont be a difference making move, I dont see how it will hurt the team.![]()

I just think its a stupid thing to fault the guy for trying to further his career.
I don't blame Finley for going to the Spurs, what was he supposed to do just quit the nba?
No 'cause he was coming to the Spurs. It's different. Trust me.![]()

The Dallas Mavericks hired Mario Elie as an assistant coach on Friday. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
An 11-year NBA veteran, Elie averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 732 regular season games with Golden State, Philadelphia, Portland, Houston, San Antonio and Phoenix. He also played in 116 playoff games and won three NBA Championships with Houston (1994, 1995) and San Antonio (1999).
Elie joins the Mavericks after serving as an assistant coach with Golden State for two seasons (2004-05 and 2005-06). He also served in the same capacity with the Spurs for the 2003-04 season.
"I am very excited to come to this great organization," Elie said. "I look forward to working with Mark Cuban and Avery Johnson, who's one of the best coaches in the NBA."
The move comes on the heels of the Mavs' epic first-round playoff loss to Golden State last season.
The team's 2008 campaign tips off with the regular-season opener at Cleveland on October 31.
He's going to have a of a time screaming at that bunch of chokers. That er is going to have a stroke trying to coach that team.
yeah i dont think the mavs will learn the "kiss of death"
