restart your modem
This is my first time trying to use Live and it doesn't work. I have my 360 connected to my modem and when I test my XBOXLive connection it fails on "IP Address". What do I do now?
And try not to throw too many big words at me. I'm not so smart when it comes to computers or videogames.

I just tried that and it still failed on IP Address.
did you restart it while it was plugged into your xbox or your computer?
It was still plugged to the computer but I unplugged the 360.
Okay I tried it again unplugged from everything and it still didn't work.
Bump. Still need help. Any comments would be appreciated.
Do you have your IP settings on Automatic or Manual? If you have it on Manual, swith it to Auto and see if it works.
call 1800-4-my-xbox or go to xbox.com to look up your issue. article 908885 could probably help you out.
How are you connecting your Xbox to the net?
It may be just that Xbox live is down or not letting new sign ins. I know because of Halo, live is really stressing now here is a quick link of other having problems.

What do you have Road Runner or DSL? If you have road runner you can connect directly without a router if you have DSL it needs to be connected to your computer via a router. That has been my experience with it.

I have RoadRunner and I have it connected directly to the modem.
Did you try hitting it with a hammer?
Then he would be in the same boat as me with an ancient PS2 and the butt of all of ATrain jokes...

He's mostly on during the weekdays. He always gives me a hard time for being one of the few posters on here who still has and plays a PS2.
