Hamilton over Manu? Please.
This guy is also a bit of a Washington homer.
Shaq is WAY too high. No way can the Heat make a deep run when he's "conserving" which is humorous analyst talk for being "fat, out of shape, and lazy".
Paul is too low, and I'm sure his pundits will cry about Deron being so highly ranked.
WTF is Kevin Martin doing in this ranking ahead of Hinrich, Bowen, Artest, and ANDRE FREAKING MILLER. WHAT. THE . There is not a GM on the PLANET that would take Martin ahead of Miller. Andre (Miller) continues to be the most underrated player in the entire NBA and the fact that he is not listed here in the top 50 makes me almost want to say this entire list is worthless.
I don't know if Piston fans agree, but the complete lack of passion they showed last year has them all ranked lower in my book. Prince isn't even in my top 50. Give me Bowen if we're talking about a single season. Better defender and better 3 point shooter, at least for another year or two.
Boozer and Nash are also too high. I love them both, but neither play defense. Boozer was absolutely destroyed not only by Duncan but also by Oberto in the playoffs on cuts behind him to the hoop. He looked lost, kind of like Nash ALWAYS looks.
I would like to see someone compose a list of the top 50 defenders in the NBA. Forget about points, forget about assists or treys, just give me the top 50 shut-down players. I'll even give you the first name on the list: It's the same person who heads this list.
I'll wager that if you took a list of the top 50 defensive players and compared it to the top 50 offensive players, the former would be a lot closer to who's tops in the league.
