The Los Angeles Dodgers have decided to fire manager Grady Little and replace him with former Yankees manager Joe Torre, The Journal News has learned.
Torre, 67, could be named manager as soon as tomorrow, according to two sources close to the situation. Don Mattingly is expected to accompany Torre to Los Angeles as his bench coach. Torre is also interested in hiring Kevin Long, his hitting coach with the Yankees.
The Dodgers were 82-80 this season under Little and were beset by clubhouse unrest. Owner Frank McCourt, a Boston native, decided Torre is best suited to quell that situation.
Torre turned down a one-year offer to remain as manager of the Yankees on Oct. 18. He had been with the Yankees 12 seasons, winning four World Series championships.
That sucks for yankee fans
I'm a huge Yankees fan and I don't see why it sucks. I'm happy for Torre. I think he deserved a second chance. He's probably going to do great in LA.
They're talking about it on ESPN right now. That Joe Toree will reportedly be named the Dodgers manager. That it will happen within a day or 2.
I feel sorry for you.... actually no I don't. I hate the Yankees.
Good Deal for LA...
They are trying to grab Mattingly as well...![]()
It sucks for Yankee fans because it'll probably bring Pet e, Rivera and maybe even A-Rod to Los Angeles. The first two are probably very close to locks.
Bad day to be a fan of an opposing NL West team. Especially of team's that aren't going to spend more than 60 million to field a roster.
they'll probably get him, too.
he's already said he's not interested in being a bench coach in ny.
i dont know about mo. takashi saito is more than capable of being the dodgers closer
Rivera talked of staying in New York if Torre stayed. Once can infer he may follow now that Torre has gone elsewhere. I know his role would diminish, but being the set up man isn't too terrible for a career in twilight, and, if inury was to happen, he could step in and dominate.
LOL @ Grady Little getting shat on again.![]()
Yankees fan here and this is great for Joe and the Dodgers he will lead them to the playoffs next year as long as they stay healthy, Joe is a great manager.
lets see what he can do with all those 40 year olds
<----yankees fan
Im happy the dodgers gave him a chance, the yanks administration pull a very ty one on him (he is not the first one). Steinbrenner its delusional and i think he is about to have a close encounter with reality.

Good pickup by the Dodgers. Anythings better than Little. He better produce though.
cool...........
Very Cool Picture...
No Union 76?
Yeah that's a landmark.
In other good news looks like Pierre is open to waiving his no trade clause. Let's just hope we can pawn him off on some other sap team.
