As the New England Patriots pour it on opponents, fans have to be wondering about it and Tuesday former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher said it: If the Patriots keep running up the score, will someone like Tom Brady be the victim of a retaliatory hit?

The subject of the Pats' late-game tactics is causing a lot of buzz around the NFL, particularly after Sunday's 52-7 victory over the Washington Redskins. On a CBS conference call with reporters Tuesday. Cowher noted the Patriots could be playing a dangerous game.

"At some point if this continues, someone's going to take a cheap shot,'' Cowher said. "Is that worth subjecting your players to if it comes to that?''

A very real possiblity. I am not saying its right nor do I condone it but if a some player feels their team is getting run up on...it could happen.

If it happens, I bet it happens by accident. No need for someone to take a shot at Brady. Karma is a .

If it happens on purpose, I support the Pat fans lynching the er ... like, a serious lynching with torches and everything. You don't like the score run up, play some in defense.

I'm surprised the defensive coordinators of Pats opponents haven't been calling safety blitzes to send a message to Belichick. There is a point in the game where your starters should come out. Brady deserves some hard hits if he's still on the field with a six touchdown lead.

This is why I wouldn't want my starters to be in at the end of a blowout. Someone could get pissed and go for their knees.

As a coworker pointed out - you'd have to get to Brady first. You'd also have to figure if you want to take a chance, with all the major hitters on the Patriots squad, they might send a message also - and I'm pretty sure it could be a lot worse than what people figure they want to do to Brady.

Unless someone decided to pull a Charles Martin and pop him after the whistle.

What if its not his call to be out on the field? Does he still deserve it?

I think if that happened, someone would end up dead.

Not a smart idea the way the league protects Brady so ing much. He gets anything he wants. He could bring a knife on the field and cut someones head off, and the refs would penalize the opponent for running into Brady's knife.

That is a good point. Brady is doing what he is told. Personally I wouldn't risk my 3-time champion QB but then again, I am not The Hoodie.

I know it's not his call to be on the field that late. The point is that Belichick is playing his starters long after he has to. I'm not mad at them running up the score as much as I think it's stupid to risk injury to the guys who scored all of those points just to prove to the league that you can do whatever the F you want. It's all fun and games for Belichick until someone's feelings get hurt and they call safety blitzes or put 9 men in the box just to rush the QB and knock Brady down. If Brady or Moss or Welker or anyone get injured playing late in the game, who's going to get the blame? Belichick.

Actually I heard on the radio earliar in the week that Brady gets pissed when he gets taken out. He wants to be on that field. Im guessing he has Moss now and wants records. I think teams are going to say " it" now and blitz 9 in the fourth Qtr. with the pats up by 40 and Brady is still in the game trying to convert 4th downs and such.

War Peyton Manning getting his 4th straight win against Brady.

I hope Belicheck continues to pad the stats for his offensive players. Defenses will be very motivated to get at Brady. And I don't think it will a cheap shot that gets Brady. It will happen on one of his runs. He slipped a nasty hit on a run last week against the Redskins.

When they play the Giants, I expect him to take some hits, if not sooner.

In an ideal world, Brady would get his leg broken right after he threw his 48th TD and be out for the season.

Punching the ball in against Wash. when you're up 35 in the 4th (and I hate the Redskins) is a move, but about what I'd expect from Cheat-ichek. Word gets around in the league, and if they keep pulling this , someone will take Brady out if Hoodie won't. It's fine to say "play some ing defense", but some teams just aren't very ing good, and you don't rub their noses in it. Teams will start taking cheap and late shots at Brady if N.E. is up 4-5 touchdowns and still pouring it on.

Your Pats hate is beyond reason. It is NEVER cool to wish injury upon someone, ever.

Now, I agree that the Pats running up the score against hapless teams is ty. And I do believe that Karma will come back and bite them in the ass for it. However, hoping someone breaks his leg so that your QB can keep his record is stupid. And it's not like the Colts have never left Peyton in so he could pad his stats, either.

The Patriots are not a nice, classy team. Screwing with them is like screwing with the Mafia. Lots of bad things will happen to the player and the team that takes a cheap shot on Brady.
