do you always believe the announcers?
during lastnight boradcast of the susns sonics game. they had a list up of the oldest and youngest teams in the league...what caught my eyes where the run and gun, media darlings from Phoneix is the second oldest in the league. you never hear people speaking about suns being old.
do you always believe the announcers?
Well part of the reason the Suns are now old is Grant Hill...
Just like most of the reasons the Spurs are old are Robert Horry, Bruce Bowen, Brent Barry and Michael Finley.
Duncan's not old...he's still in his prime, as is Manu. Parker has yet to hit his...I guess if Oberto had what could be considered a prime, he's still young enough to be in it.
It's really the Spurs bench that is old.....and you know what? Old benches are good...we win a le every time we have an old bench just about.
It's when multiple starters are old that problems start to crop up.
Amen I like the old guys in the playoffs. I dont mind Horry cruising into the playoffs and lighting it up once we are in. The old dogs know how to get it done when it counts.
And they also don't need a ton of minutes to develop their games either....
Weren't we old 2 years ago?
Young is needed to play run and gun.
Defense can be played at any age.

I thought Pop put this to bed on media day when he said something like "We were the oldest team 3 years ago. We're older than now."![]()

Team Average - 30.1 years of age
Median is usually a better determinant than average.
The Suns median age is 29. The Spurs median age is 31.
The Suns number is still deceptive. If you drop Sean Marks and Eric Piatowski (two practice players the Suns would cut if they didn't have to keep a certain number of players on the roster), the median age for the Suns drops to 26.
If the Spurs cut Horry and Bowen, the median age only falls to 30.5
Yeah, being younger really helped the Suns win the NBA championship last year.
Inasmuch as it has no correlation to winning NBA championships whatsoever, you are absolutely right. The Suns number is still deceptive.
There are not really any misleading numbers with the Spurs, though. 10 of their 14 players are in their 30s. Only Matt Bonner, Tony Parker, Darius Washington and Ian Mahinmi are under 30.
Don't cry ChumpDumper.
I'm not.
Tell us how the Suns' relative youth helped them win an NBA championship last season.
When did I say that youth=championship? The thread starter asked why the Suns aren't tagged with the "old" label like the Spurs. I gave him an answer.
Don't like it? Tough. I can't change the data.
And you never answered my question about the last time the Suns won an NBA championship.
When was that?
You can stop posting now....Im able to deduct that your response to ANY argument is that the Suns have never won a championship.
The Spurs are still old. They still have no chance of getting Oden (or any other marquee free agent).
I don't know enough about the Suns to make that call.Im able to deduct that your response to ANY argument is that the Suns have never won a championship.
I'm asking you -- when was the last time the Suns won an NBA championship?
No one seriously said they did. They still have no chance of getting Oden
The only Phoenix Sun with a ring.
That dude is old!
Who cares? What does winning matter? TV ratings and popularity aren't everything - they're the only thing. And the Suns are the NBA TV Ratings & Popularity Champions! I owned you, ChumpDumper, I owned you so bad! Hooray for me!
It's difficult to keep track of all the underscores.

END OF DISCUSSION!
LOL at SEAN MARKS!![]()
Yes..those IDIOTS at TNT!
Why do they bother bringing up those stupid graphics of useless data!!!
The only stat that should ever be shown is who is who won the le last year.
Standings, sta istics, age etc.
IRRELEVANT!
All they need to do is predict that whatever happened last year is what is going to happen this year. PERIOD.
