Dude is doing a uva job as a coach, but he better get a lapband before he keels over.
but can he win the big 12? my magic 8 ball says ask again later
What clever name would they give if his team played Maryland or Notre Dame? All 3 coaches almost weigh a ton
They have Missouri ( BCS #6 ) their last game of the year, then the big XII championship against #5 OU. Yeah, its gonna be tough but if they win out and win the big XII, it's the JAYHAWKS in the NC game which, even though I'm a longhorn fan, I think is great. Too funny, after all the pre-season USC hype, then LSU and Bucknuts hype.... Kansas goes to the NC game, and even better wins ?
My oh my....that would be just killer !!
That will never happen.
weis is a fatty - no doubt. but mangino is a whole different level of obese.
Oh yeah, that's right, USC was picked to win it all this year.

If his players don't perform well, he eats them. It's true. There are no less than 4 players on his roster each year that come up missing.
Rick Majerus says: "wow"!
umm the Buckeyes are rebuilding this year there was no hype, and they still doubt them (even I do). Ohio State has 3 seniors that start and 5 total. So I'm not sure what Buckeyes hype your talking about.
Kansas has been on fire and look to tough to beat, but I seriously doubt they will go undefeated this year. They are near unstoppable at home, but they are a different beast on the road:
@KSU: won by 6
@Colorado: won by 5
@TAMU: won by 7
Mediocre opposition, IMHO. They have a good chance beating OSU this week and even Mizzou in their final game, but like another poster said, if they play in the B12 Championship vs. OU, they'll lose. And, heaven forbid they DO play for the NC vs. someone like tOSU, it will be an embarrassing loss to an otherwise stellar season.
They've had the luxuary this year of playing weak B12 teams in a season where the B12 is weak overall. Couple that with playing only 1/3 of their games on the road, and that's part of their success this year. Yes, they are a good team, but not Top-5 (and maybe not even Top-10). IMHO.
i don't know about unstoppable. their most impressive home win is UNL - by a large margin.
Honestly I think tOSU is in the same boat as Kansas. The Big 10 is quite easy to get through and they didn't play anyone non-con. Sure, the schedule wasn't as easy as KU's but we still don't know much about either team.
Their smallest margin of victory so far at home is by 32 points. I would think that qualifies as 'near unstoppable'.

Ok. St. needs to keep their regular coaching staff in the first half, and bring in a new corpse of coaches for the 2H. At least, against UT.
except Ohio State has about 15 5 star recruits and 20 something 4 star recruits so the talent is there. Ohio State has guys that will be playing the the NFL in the next couple years and Kansas has guys that will watch them playing the NFL in the next couple of years.
If KU makes it through the rest of their schedule + Big 12 le game undefeated then they deserve a shot at the national le.
edit double post.
Yes, and I think the USC, Notre Dame, Nebraskas of the world have proven that star ratings mean jack at this point in the season. If a team has heart and good coaching, anything can happen.
Well you might have a point with USC, but Ohio State has more talent than both Notre Dame and Nebraska. I mean your comparing a team that has won a National Championship, and has finished in the top 5 5 out of the last 6 years. They are in the National le hunt every year.
I mean say what you want about the Big 10, but they still win bowl games. We got killed in the NCFCG last year I know, but Wisconsin, the 3rd best in the Big 10 last year, beat the second best team in the SEC last year. We gave Texas all they could handle in 2005, with our backup QB nontheless. We have lost one bowl game since 2002, and both Big 12 schools we played got run out of the stadium (even though they finished higher in the Big 12 than we did in the Big 10)
Ohio State plays USC in week 2 next year, and I'm sure of 2 things: 1)OSU will not get blown out, they might not win, but they won't be blown out and 2) even if we do win, it will not be enough for people to diminish their accomplishments. It will be like last year when we went into Texas and beat Texas. People act like that game meant nothing because Texas wasn't that good.
If tOSU won that game vs. Florida, we all know this argument never arises.
OSU has built in 'front end' hype because they are OSU. Same with Florida, Texas, OU, USC...others. NOTRE DAME.... Kansas has never been hyped in CFB. That's all I'm saying. I guess I should rephrase that with 'popular picks' or 'darlings of CFB'.
With that said, not here as much, but on other boards I see a lot of snobbery going on about Kansas. Sure they'll likely lose at Missouri or the big XII championship, WHICH IS PLAYED HERE IN SAN ANTONIO BTW, but it will be a great game. I'm definiately going to make that one.
But that front end hype is justified. tOSU was ranked 12th at the start of the season I believe, not too high for a team that lost so many players to the NFL draft, and not too low for a team that was in the BCS championship game the year before and is filled with 4&5 star recruits. That's why people don't take teams like Kansas, Boise St, BC, and Rutgers seriously it's because we all know that there is a huge talent disparity beween those schools and the schools you mentioned that get hype.
Matter of fact, since I just thought of it, I went out and bought two tickets. $65 each for upper endzone via stub-hub.
