No lie, 12 points, 14 boards tonight.![]()
Now bottle that up and open it come April.
No lie, 12 points, 14 boards tonight.![]()
Against Shaq
Played him pretty tough too.
He looks like a completely different player this year... he actually looks confident!![]()
He wouldn't be playing so well with an iron mask. I'm just sayin'.
Are you sure it's not just because he has the mask-y thing on?
j/k
But seriously, we all knew he was/is a force to be reckoned with. He's had his moments, but maybe he'll come out and show everyone that he can play like this every game. I'd really like to see a confident and consistent big guy out there against Timmy every night.
Elson was good against Houston in the first quarter and then sucked in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Against Miami, Elson sucked in the first quarter and then was good in the 2nd, 3rd and fourth. If he can put it together for one complete game, that'd give the Spurs a solid center option.
Especially considering Oberto has reverted back to It's-The-Regular-Season-So-I-Play-Like-A-Lifeless-Zombie mode.
If he is gonna play like that he should just pull a Rip Hamilton and keep it on
His dunk in the closing minutes of the game was solid.
wha-whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?????
Did whottt just really give props to Elson?
Looks like this is shaping up to be a classic season![]()
I've never been an Elson hater...timvp is who you are looking for here.
I've liked Elson since he gave timvp a Sequ level owning in game 1 of last season.![]()
It's that second year Spur phenomenon -- like with Oberto last year.
From an outsider POV, you always hated elson, but timvp chose to purposely hate elson even more just so he could try to continue the whotttimvpwarrs
It was the other 81 games and the playoffs that were the problem. I owned myself when I thought my read on him was wrong after one game.
Pretty tough for a center the size of Oberto to play Yao and Shaq on even terms. He's all right on smaller guys.
He corrals shaq but gets schooled by yao. Is the end of the world near?
eh???

"The Spurs went ahead for good, 41-40, off a jumper from Francisco Oberto with 11:28 left in the third."

I knew he was going to step up more this season. second season with us. If they have something in them, they always step up in their second season. It is either make it or break it. If they don't, they are not going to be Spurs very long.
I am really happy with Elson because he seems really a lot more aggressive in every aspects of the game, shooting, blocking, running, dunking, hustling, rebounding... Now, we can watch some dunk in Spurs game too. (just kidding)
that thong thong thong

Second game that I didn't say ELSON GRAB THE BALL, DAMN IT! (first vs Detroit last season) I've repeating that all the time.
(2nd of 120 pretty bad for the time being...)
I especially liked his airball jump hook.
Or his cut throught he middle brick dunk a few games back...
reminds me of when i play!
kidding really...im glad he is at least going after it...i like to see that confidence.
it seems to me that for every good thing he does, he balances it out with a moron play..i havent seen a spur (7 footer at that) miss so many dunks..he tries to jam SO hard, he should worry about getting the 2 points before he tries to take the rim off
Well his good play to "WTF?!!!" play ratio in last night's game was about 4 to 1, which we can live with.
The thing with the Spurs' two headed center monster is that about 10% of the time either Oberto or Elson have an exceptional night, 35% of the time both play a good game, 35% of the time one of them plays good while the other struggles, and 20% of the time both suck. Somehow together they provide decent production from the 5 spot.
I think last night was what the front office envisioned when they signed Elson to that offer sheet. Of course, he went off against ancient Shaq.

The mask is probably getting knocked around and screwing up his vision. does anyone know is the mask a permanent thing? I have heard commentators say he has to wear it the rest of his career, and others say he wont have to wear it in a month or so.![]()
Its kinda cool, he looks like Hannibal Elson out there.
