    Nope...not done.
I don't get this line of thought. Freeney is good, but he's one piece of the puzzle, NOT the whole puzzle.
They'll be fine come playoff time.

Not really, they still have Robert Mathis at left end and they signed Simeon Rice to replace Freeney, he's older but the same kind of pass rusher. Dwight had not been living up to his $72 million dollar contract so far this year. I don't agree that losing Dwight will have the same kind of effect as losing Bob Sanders did last year.

freeney got cut by denver for a reason. he's incredibly crusty and sucks balls against the run. maybe he'll play well, but we'll see.

Rice was disgruntled and ing about not getting enough playing time. Taking over the starting job on a Super Bowl contender should solve those work ethic problems. He's a question mark as of now but I think he'll be a good fit in Indy seeing how he's played in this system with Dungy before, has been rested and is ready to go. Based on the interviews he's done so far, Rice looks motivated and ready to help the team, a conclusion no one could possibly draw from his at ude in Denver.

Kind of like the Randy Moss situation with how he didn't like it in Oakland and suddenly blows up when he gets traded to the Patriots.

Positive outlook from Rice and the Colts about his acquisition in this article. I think he'll fit in well, obviously with big shoes to fill, but he can do it.

Must be nice being able to call other teams fans bandwagoners because your team has sucked long enough to not have its own bandwagon anymore.

I HATE INJURIES! Well this sucks! Guess it will be New England kicking the out of Dallas or Green Bay in the superbowl.

Colts still have some great pass rushers, Clark is back this week and they only have two teams with winning records left on their schedule, and they beat those two already this year.

You're dumb if you think Dwight Freeney was their secret weapon for beating New England.

I think I'm still bitter about that loss... Broncos and Seahawks if we beat Pittsburgh? Take that to the bank. But we probably don't get Vinatieri if we win that game and even though he ed us pretty bad last week I'd rather have him kicking in the playoffs than Vanderjagt.

Freeney is a major weapon for New England, and probably their second most important player aside from Bob Sanders. If they lost Sanders, they would have no hope. But I think Rice will do an excellent job filling in for Freeney. Honestly, I think he is going to suprize some people, and possibly be even more effective than Freeney has been.

It's completely a case of how players work in different systems. Could Randy Moss be doing what he's doing now in Oakland? Yes, but he'd rather catch balls thrown by Tom Brady and he'd rather catch them in the Super Bowl, two things he had no shot at doing in Oakland. I'm expecting a similar case with Rice.

Dwight does bring an at ude and toughness to the defense, but with Bob Sanders and Gary Brackett still on the field, I don't think they will lose any of that. This is one of those injuries that won't completely over a team, and the remaining Colts defenders have two choices to make from here on out. The first choice, and the one I believe they will make, is to rally around each other and play harder, the way Dwight would be playing if he were in the game, or they could simply get down on themselves and lose confidence, which will lead to a semi-collapse like last year.

If we lost Sanders and/or Addai, I'd be worried...THEY'RE our real weapons.
Freeney? Like I said before, I really like him, and yes, it's a bummer he's out...but he doesn't make or break us.
And, I agree about Rice. Being on a championship team might be what he needed to get going again?
    We'll see.

all i'm saying is this - Denver needed pass rushers bad after last year, and Rice couldn't get a lot of PT there? he should be a decent stopgap but i really doubt he'll draw all the double team attention freeney did. the defense will probably suffer, but if their o gets healthy it may not be much of an issue.

This is a situation Rice will have to make work for himself. With Freeney out, most O lines will now shift their double teams to the left on Robert Mathis. This is something Rice will have to take advantage of and make O lines respect the fact that he's there.

I agree about the Colts offense though, Clark back this week and possibly Tony Ugoh, that leaves only Harrison and Ryan Diem, but as well as the backups played against San Diego (guys who were playing their first NFL snaps and had to go up against Merriman and Phillips), I don't think it will be much of a problem if Diem has a lingering injury. With all of the JV teams left on their schedule they should make it to the playoffs at full health on offense.
