Im guessing what she means is that the Spurs are the first team to give San Antonio a worthy trophy.

The San Antonio Texans came pretty close in 1996. I believe they placed 2nd in the Candian Football League.
Then again, it's the CFL, so I'm not sure if it would've counted anyways.
