You forgot to mention that Kidd has nine boards and five assists. Jason Kidd is a true point guard and an exceptional rebounder for his size so he can have a big impact on the game without scoring a lot of points....
He is their leading scorer in his first game, but was 6-16 for 17 pts, not very efficient.
They are winning so far, and Vince is not much other than offence so might as well use him. Kidd has 0 pts, with just 3 attempts. That can't be good if Vince keeps Kidd from getting ANY shots...

Kidd doesn't need to score for his team to win.
I've seen him score 0 points and still win a game.
