PITTSBURGH -- Defensive back Anthony Smith is so certain the Pittsburgh Steelers will end the New England Patriots' unbeaten season, he is guaranteeing a win Sunday in Foxborough.

The Patriots (12-0) may have the perfect record, Smith said Wednesday, but it should be New England that is worried about the Steelers (9-3) rather than the other way around.

"People keep asking me if we're ready for the Patriots," Smith said. "They should be asking if they're ready for us."

Is Smith so confident that he is willing to copy one of former Pittsburgh linebacker Joey Porter's familiar motivational ploys by guaranteeing the Steelers will win?

"We're going to win," Smith said. "Yeah, I can guarantee a win. As long as we come out and do what we got to do. Both sides of the ball are rolling, and if our special teams come through for us, we've got a good chance to win."

Only team that will beat the Patriots are themselves.

    They have weaknesses.
    1. Bad weather slows down their passing game big time.
    2. They're not that good at running the football.
    3. Teams with a good pass rush can contain them.
    4. Teams that can control the ball can limit NE's scoring opportunities.
    5. NE's secondary is vulnerable to QB who can move outside the pocket and throw with accuracy.

Pittsburgh probably matches up better than any other AFC team with the Patriots.

Anytime a guarantee involves "as long as" we do this and "if" we do that, there is an escape hatch.

Pittsburgh does match up very well with them, although I can't stand the steelers.

I don't follow football. Who is this New England team? After reading this it sounds like they ing suck. Apparently they can't run the ball, pass block, stop the run, or stop the pass. So what's the big deal about a guy guaranteeing victory? It should be a ing cakewalk to beat a team that ty.

This is grounds for Belichick to hang 100 on them. I smell a 9TD game from Brady. He breaks Peyton's record this week.

The Patriots take being the Patriots very seriously. Tom Brady, when asked to comment on Smith's guarantee, starting quoting Benjamin Franklin: "Well done is always better than well said."

Maybe teams can try to tar and feather him before the game.

Yawn talk is cheap. With that being said, the best and most complete team in NFL history known as the Patriots will return back to their old ways and destroy the steelers with ease. Final score will be Pats 42 Steelers 10.

Watch this dude not come back until the Patriots win the game and start talking about how they have the best player at every position to ever play in the NFL, and probably start touting their backups as the second best to ever play that position.

I dont usually stay on these boards during the Patriot games with the exception of the Monday Night game which I posted throughout the game. I watch it but "IF" they somehow lose, I will still be here. They wont lose though. This team has played bad enough to lose and they still have found a way to win. They are even stronger and tougher than ever.

I guess the new cool thing to do is say your team is stronger than ever when the league saves their season with lopsided officiating. What a Boston baked .

It was cool when Joe Namath guaranteed a Super Bowl win. It's not cool anymore to guarantee wins when most of the time it doesn't happen.

The Steelers will need some breaks to win this game. But the Pats are at home.

    And Belichick >>> Tomlin.

If the Pats continue playing like they have, dropping passes and getting abused on the ground, Pittsburgh could win. But Smith running his mouth with the guarantee is going to be the nail in the coffin for Pittsburgh. Brady is going to with Smith all day long, and at day's end, he's going to be the goat in the Steelers' loss.

There are a lot of variables to consider in this game. Steelers could pull it out but it will take their A game, lots of pressure on Brady, and playing the Pats WRs very physically. It's kind of funny because now, at a time when you'd love to see Randy Moss get laid out by DBs, I have only my team's president/GM to thank for the rules being changed to pamper WRs.

    Oh well.

Was there any player on New England that didn't address this dude after the game?

Belichick even talked some smack after the game which isn't surprising. Thank god Pop is nothing like this egomaniac.
