Jeff McDonald: Duncan practices, doubtful vs. Jazz
Welcome to Day 5 of the Tim Duncan Ankle Watch.
Duncan practiced with the team Tuesday, giving his right ankle its first serious test since he sprained it Sunday against Portland. He even stayed late to work on his jump shot for at least 20 minutes after the rest of his teammates had disappeared into the locker room.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich says Duncan is "doubtful" to play in Friday's Western Conference Finals rematch with Utah. Although frankly, with the way he was moving and jab stepping on his injured ankle, Duncan didn't look doubtful to us.
If he doesn't play against the Jazz, Duncan is almost certain to return for Tuesday's trip to Golden State, Popovich said.
All in all, it looks like a bullet has been dodged and a crisis has been averted.
good, i dont want him to play till the game against the warriors.
Me too
Rest this ankle as much as you need and even more.
It's December as I remember correctly right?
Its going to be hard to beat the Jazz w/out Duncan.
Probably. But, so?
Pop will force Tim to sit...Which is a great thing!
If you lose against Utah, big friggen deal.
Play him vs Golden State.
Duncan is fine. He'll play.
I think Duncan will play against Utah.
Pop rather sit him for this game but it will be hard for him to convince Duncan to do so.
Three days off after the game; a FULL 9 days off, and only misses two games?
Sit him.
It would be better to rest Duncan on Friday. Speaking of injuries, has there been any mention of manu's sore finger? I know he went ape on the Mavs but he could have been on an adrenaline rush. Any more reports?
Man if we can beat the Mavs without Timmy we definately have a chance against the Jazz.
I think Duncan will be the one to force the issue too.
