Here is a good Bob Davis story: Several years ago a high ranking VP was retiring. He was former military but a stand up guy that cared about USAA, the employees and the service to the members. He was from the McDermott regime. So USAA had a nice retirement party at 3PM which he goes to. Then returns to his desk to get his things and sends a final blistering, scud mass email to a ton of people at USAA. He chided Davis for gutting USAA, demoralizing the workers, and causing service to decline. He then listed things Davis did like buying a $10,000 Persian rug for Davis' office, while workers were being terminated, sending USAA maintenance workers to his house to fix his AC, lavish bonuses, and the best one......flying some VP's wife back on the corp jet from California to pick up her poodle and return back to CA. After awhile, this email made it around to nearly everyone at USAA. And the best rumor was the female VP he was bopping that he promoted to Phoenix.

Good riddance. Maybe now they will get back to what they are supposed to be doing, which is providing top-notch service to military families and their dependents rather than trying to be a big big really big oh-so-important company.
