    Fvck The Earth!

    From the King of Dogma....

Pope Benedict XVI has launched a surprise attack on climate change prophets of doom, warning them that any solutions to global warming must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology.

The leader of more than a billion Roman Catholics suggested that fears over man-made emissions melting the ice caps and causing a wave of unprecedented disasters were nothing more than scare-mongering.

The German-born Pontiff said that while some concerns may be valid it was vital that the international community based its policies on science rather than the dogma of the environmentalist movement.

His remarks will be made in his annual message for World Peace Day on January 1, but they were released as delegates from all over the world convened on the Indonesian holiday island of Bali for UN climate change talks.

The 80-year-old Pope said the world needed to care for the environment but not to the point where the welfare of animals and plants was given a greater priority than that of mankind.

Benny is infallible only matters of faith and morals, papal infallibility being a quite recent invention in the 2000 year history of the Church.

His position on environmental issues is total bull ,

eg, the false opposition of humans vs plants/animals. The real opposition is money-grubbing business vs the environment.

eg, sliming the environmentalists as ideological, not scientific.

Even some of the Proddy Bible-thumpers have come around to the position that man must respect his stewardship of all the planet. Given a little more time, they might even go hippy on us and realize that "everything is connected".

UN/ Govt. doctored study = "...dubious ideology"???

it “was a response to final government review comments” on earlier, less drastic scenarios.
In other words, it was the result of political interference.

Ah, now we are seeing the true MO of the globalists' climate change fear mongering... global taxing authority for the UN

Global Carbon Tax Urged at UN Climate Conference
    http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.c...48a6&Issue_id=

Schwank said at least “$10-$40 billion dollars per year” could be generated by the tax, and wealthy nations like the U.S. would bear the biggest burden based on the “polluters pay principle.”

The environmental group Friends of the Earth, in attendance in Bali, also advocated the transfer of money from rich to poor nations on Wednesday.

“A climate change response must have at its heart a redistribution of wealth and resources,” said Emma Brindal, a climate justice campaigner coordinator for Friends of the Earth.

Calls for global regulations and taxes are not new at the UN. Former Vice President Al Gore, who arrived Thursday at the Bali conference, reiterated this week his call to place a price on carbon dioxide emissions.

In 2000, then French President Jacques Chirac said the UN’s Kyoto Protocol represented "the first component of an authentic global governance." Former EU Environment Minister Margot Wallstrom said, "Kyoto is about the economy, about leveling the playing field for big businesses worldwide." Canadian Prime Minster Stephen Harper once dismissed Kyoto as a “socialist scheme.”

MIT climate scientist Dr. Richard Lindzen warned about these types of carbon regulations earlier this year. "Controlling carbon is a bureaucrat's dream. If you control carbon, you control life," Lindzen said in March 2007.

In addition, many critics have often charged that proposed tax and regulatory “solutions” were more important to the promoters of man-made climate fears than the accuracy of their science.

Former Colorado Senator Tim Wirth reportedly said in 1990, "We've got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing — in terms of economic policy and environmental policy."

So right or wrong...they're right! Man these people sure are smart.

If LOST ever gets implemented then the UN will have taxing authority over the oceans. If a carbon tax gets implemented then the UN will have taxing authority over carbon dioxide. How do nations avoid taxes like that?

Answer: they don't, and we get especially screwed over by the "redistribution of wealth" globalists. All hail the New World Order.

    wow

Because he looks evil and has dark circles under his eyes.

Because he calls for sound science in scientific matters.

btw darkreign -- Oxymoronic it is not. Technically it would be ironic if it were ironic, or maybe hypocritical, if, again, it were. The Pope's authority is in matters of Faith, and dogma is the standard method thereof. Environmental science should have nothing to do with dogma and ideology; Benedict XVI is merely stating common sense: that science should NOT be influenced by ANY ideology, external or internal. No need to be a secular scientist to say that. When seen in light of this correct understanding of Benedict's statement, your joke now reveals itself to be the true, albeit unintentional irony. Ironic that someone implying a scientific position would find the Pope's statement ironic, or, as you put it "oxymoronic."

So does the Pope support evolutionary science too, or does he pick and choose which sciences to support, ya know, like republican Presidential candidates do?

First of all, $10-40 billion per year is chicken feed...Second of all, asking polluters to clean up their own messes is futile..but we shouldn't need a world agency to tell us what's right...Third of all, this would send the emerging Chinese and Indian economies into a economic tail-spin....

Spot on Manu, their thinking should conform to the reasoning of those who are throughly educated in the science behind climate change, like that guy that's highly educated in the science of government, Al Gore.

Global Carbon Tax Urged at UN Climate Conference

BALI, Indonesia – A global tax on carbon dioxide emissions was urged to help save the Earth from catastrophic man-made global warming at the United Nations climate conference. A panel of UN participants on Thursday urged the adoption of a tax that would represent “a global burden sharing system, fair, with solidarity, and legally binding to all nations.”

“Finally someone will pay for these [climate related] costs,” Othmar Schwank, a global tax advocate, told Inhofe EPW Press Blog following the panel discussion led “A Global CO2 Tax.” Schwank is a consultant with the Switzerland based Mauch Consulting firm

Schwank said at least “$10-$40 billion dollars per year” could be generated by the tax, and wealthy nations like the U.S. would bear the biggest burden based on the “polluters pay principle.”

The U.S. and other wealthy nations need to “contribute significantly more to this global fund,” Schwank explained. He also added, “It is very essential to tax coal.”

The UN was presented with a new report from the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment led “Global Solidarity in Financing Adaptation.” The report stated there was an “urgent need” for a global tax in order for “damages [from climate change] to be kept from growing to truly catastrophic levels, especially in vulnerable countries of the developing world.”

The tens of billions of dollars per year generated by a global tax would “flow into a global Multilateral Adaptation Fund” to help nations cope with global warming, according to the report.

Schwank said a global carbon dioxide tax is an idea long overdue that is urgently needed to establish “a funding scheme which generates the resources required to address the dimension of challenge with regard to climate change costs.”

    'Diminish future prosperity'

However, ideas like a global tax and the overall UN climate agenda met strong opposition Thursday from a team of over 100 prominent international scientists who warned the UN that attempting to control the Earth's climate was "ultimately futile."

The scientists wrote, “The IPCC's conclusions are quite inadequate as justification for implementing policies that will markedly diminish future prosperity. In particular, it is not established that it is possible to significantly alter global climate through cuts in human greenhouse gas emissions." The scientists, many of whom are current or former members of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), sent the December 13 letter to the UN Secretary-General.
