Would that team be an instant le contender? For example the wolves, sixers, etc etc.

Does anyone else have that impact or have had that impact the past 10-15 years? Discuss..............

    le contender? No.

    Playoffs? Guaransheed.

Top 4 seed? Potentially. Out east, any team with Duncan would probably be a top 3 team.

In the East... any team would be a contender to win the Conference with Timmy... Could he beat a West power with the Knicks? No

the right pieces that would allow him to dominate has to be in place. put him in new jersey with kidd, carter and jefferson. the nets can face any western power.

Not even Jordan was able to do that in Chicago until they brought Pippen onboard.
    A better team:no doubt
    le contender: don't think so.
there are too many things involved in order to make a team a le contender.

My favorite is to put him on the Lakers, watch how much they improve and then silence the sheep who keep calling Kome the *best player in the NBA*.

You cant just put Duncan on any team... take away the best player... makes for a more interesting comparison.

    Bynum
    Duncan
    Odom
    Ariza
    Fisher

That team would be a contender.

I don't think Duncan could make Minnesota great at all. He'd probably get them 3 more wins than they already have.
And that's not discounting Duncan's greatness, it's just noting how bad Minnesota is right now. 3-21??

    Tho I hate the guy...Shaq.
Yeah, Shaq's the only other one in the past 15 years.

Right now, Lebron and Duncan are the only two I can think of that can fit with almost any team. I really think Kobe's too much of a headcase to impact a floundering team immediately, he's a glorified T-Mac who can't get past the first round. (and by the pace of things the likelihood of it staying that way for this year, and possibly next, is about 75 percent)
    So yeah,
I think Lebron's taking the torch from Shaq, as the only other guy not named, Duncan to create an immediate impact.

Nash is a great leader and difference maker, but I think his game doesn't guarantee translating for just any roster, like Duncan and Bron's games do.

Without a good coach, Duncan's team won't be successful. Send Pop + Duncan to any nba team without removing any players and you have a le contender.

I think he can make any team in the league a le contender, if you just straight up take their superstar away and add Duncan. They won't neccesarily win a le, but I think he can make any team a threat to win a le. He would make some of the lesser teams be like the Suns... a definite contender, but we all know that they will more than likely not win it, unless they have quite a few breaks go their way.

I think you put Duncan on the New York Knicks and nothing he could do with Isiah and Starbury. He'd still be playing for a big pile of stinking feces.

I think it's a more fair question if you said replace any team's best player with Duncan. Adding Duncan and keeping everything else on a team would probably make that team much, much better. But, take for example a bad team like Philadelphia, and if you take away Andre Iguodala who isn't even that good anyway but probably their best player, then you have Tim Duncan and Andre Miller and a bunch of average to below average players surrounding them. Would they be better? Sure, I believe so. But, even in the east, I wouldn't bet that they'd be a top contender.

The thing that is sometimes lost in a debate like this is how good RC and Pop have been in surrounding Duncan with the right type of complimentary pieces in order to have success. Tim Duncan is great, but would he have been able to maximize his potential not only as an individual player but also as a team player if he had Kevin McHale as a GM and Lawrence Frank as a head coach? Seriously, could he have? Give great credit to Tim Duncan for as special a player as he is. But, the success of the Spurs is a product of Tim Duncan's greatness intertwined with Pop's great coaching and RC's/Pop's personnel decision making.

But even that team, with a couple of modest role players, would vy for the top seeds in the East, I have to believe. You may disagree, but Duncan with a couple of three point specialists is an absolutely lethal combination.

Agreed. Pop's control over Duncan's minutes, as well as his motivational skills are underrated. A Duncan-led team with a bad coach would not necessarily make the playoffs.

He wouldn't crack our starting lineup. But he'd be a good sixth man off the bench.

The real question should be: if coach Pop took over any team, how much better would that team be?

what Lebron needs is a scorer & defensive big man in the middle. He'd fit in in Cleveland.

a player who can draw a double team, who is not selfish with the ball, then LeBron can score 81 like Kobe.
