I hate this year's version, in years past there were three to four excellent teams that you could always look at and say, that'll be a good game. The Kings, The Lakers, The Timberwolves, even the Pistons and Mavericks were all great teams, what happened? It seems like the whole NBA is now the NFC, even the people at espn said that after the spurs, SUNS,and HEAT, AND SONICS (WTF?) there arent any other teams on runs. Maybe it is just that i dont have those hated lakers to look at anymore, but god, where is all the challenge. I think the teams the spurs have lost to is also pretty alarming, The Grizz, the Raptors, the Rockets, the Magic, none of which should be able too. Ahhh... whatever, i'll chalk it up to parity.

Great teams are going to get beat by bad teams from time to time, and by mediocre/good teams as well.

I would not discount any of the middle-of-the-pack playoff teams like:

    Sac, Dallas, Minny

For one, there is NO gurantee that we or any of the other elite teams don't go down with injury, and then one of them gets a chance to take one of the 3 spots. Second, there is no gurantee that we play this well down the road, and that those teams dont' get it together. Remember, each of those teams has been in the place the 3 tops teams are in past years, and then inevitably one or 2 of them drop down due to whatever.

I'm happy we are doing as well as we are, and I would be very happy if we maintained it. I doubt anybody can beat us in the playoffs if we do.

To rain on your "parady", there's plenty of time in Jan-Mar for teams struggling now to play a better.

Last Nov-Dec, the ing was all about "NBA can't shoot, bad fundamentals, blah, blah". This year, the scoring is up, so it's ing about something else.

One aspect guranteed to be perennial, the commenatators and journalists on the NBA suck.

How about this exciting little obstacle course for the Spurs, when everybody will be fighting for seeding:

    March
    Sun 20 @ Detroit
    Mon 21 @ New York
    Wed 23 @ Indiana

The Spurs aren't undefeated, so I would assume that there are some teams that could beat them. Maybe not in a 7 game series, but they could make it interesting.

Seattle owns San Antonio, so I wouldn't be so excited that its a given that the Spurs are going to waltz throughout the playoffs.

Some teams have been down and mediocre that should bounce back and be formidable by the end of the year: Detroit, Indiana, Minnesota, possibly Sacramento. Dallas is coming on.

I agree with many of the comments in this thread.

It's simply too early to know who's going to be good. The Spurs were pretty good last season, yet their record wasn't fabulous at the end of last December. Don't discount Minny, Sacramento, Dallas, Phoenix, Detroit, Indiana, Miami, etc. These teams can really start playing well over the next few months.

That having been said, I'm not too concerned with the Lakers, LakerGod. With the easy schedule they've had and the results they've produced, I wouldn't be shocked if Kobe ends up watching the playoffs from his living room.

That's what's missing... there are no teams to hate anymore, no clashes of the ans, no huge rivalries. I mean, who out there do the Spurs have a real history with that's still any good? _allas? Minnehopeless? It'll take a while before any bad blood can be cooked up with the up-and-coming contenders.

yeah, because i remember a time when i would think of nothing else the week of a spurs-laker game, in 2003 when we swept them in the regular season, a few friends and i had a PARTY. Looking back i cant understand why, but we were syked. Now....Miami i think i would enjoy beating because shaq is still there, and i feel they would be the second best team in the league.
