yeah... how much you want to spend?
We live in Austin and for Christmas our families gave us 3 nights away in San Antonio on the Riverwalk. Anyone have some recommendations for good places to eat down here? We are at the Hotel Valencia. Also, we are hoping to make it to the Raptors game on Friday! Thanks all.
yeah... how much you want to spend?
Something decent... up to say 25-30 an entree.
Go with Boudros. Make an early reservation now. If it's full, go with Zuni Grill.
Everyone has mentioned good places . But I would definitely avoid Casa Rio; there's too much good Mexican food in SA to waste your money there. In fact I haven't had an entire meal at the Riverwalk in ages; I prefer to hit several places for drinks and an appetizer. It's especially good if it's a nice day.
It tough for two people to eat good downtown for less than a bill, including tip and drinks...unless you eat at places like Casa Rio or Hooters...there's Morton... Ruth Chris...and Boudros, but you'd have to go non-alcoholic on some drinks to keep them reasonable...Dolores del Rio has some good Italian food about $20 a en tree, but a bottle of wine will set you back $40 minimum +tip, plus you 'have to' tip the belly dancer....
....stay away from the cookie-cutter places like Planet Hollywood, Hooters, and Champions...unless your just visiting the bar for a quick drink and a T-Shirt....
...forget all that sheeet.......eat at SA-only places like s (the ribs), La Margarita (the margaritas and fajitas) in La Villita and Mi Tierra (late-night grub and bakery)....and save your money for the downtown Martini bars.....
We've had this conversation tooooooooooooooooooooo many times. The finest restaurants on the Riverwalk are Biga, Las Canarias (at La Mansion Del Rio)...IMHO the BEST on the RW, and I like to think that even Boudro's (even though it's overpriced and NOT worth the penny) is a decent restaurant.
A lot of the places on the Riverwalk are not good at all and the ones that are, are too pricey.
Most restaurants on the riverwalk suck.
Take a cab and tell the cabbie to take you to Los Barrios on Blanco Road.
For a $20 cab ride--you'll save money and get world famous cuisine.
Or--if you want to stay downtown--try Rosarios--great food.
Right on the riverwalk?
You won't get good Mexican food on the riverwalk.
On the Riverwalk, your best bets are Las Canarias, Boudro's and Biga. Near the Riverwalk, you have The Palm, Bohanan's, and Houston St. Bistro.
How is that joint...Whats the prices on a steak their...I am going to try that place out...I have heard a lot about it
As the snobby say...if you have to ask, you can't afford it.![]()
Casa Rio is good...no where near expensive...
Casa Rio is decent at best for the karaoke but the food? No bueno.
