TV election news has been hardest on Hillary Clinton this fall, while Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee have been the biggest media favorites, according to a new study by the Center for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) at George Mason University. The study also found that Fox NewsChannel's evening news show provided more balanced coverage than its counterparts on the broadcast networks.

Who's Fair and Balanced?: Fox News Channel's coverage was more balanced toward both parties
than the broadcast networks were. On FOX, evaluations of all Democratic candidates combined were split almost evenly - 51% positive vs. 49% negative, as were all evaluations of GOP candidates - 49% positive vs. 51% negative, producing a perfectly balanced 50-50 split for all candidates of both parties.

On the three broadcast networks, opinion on Democratic candidates split 47% positive vs. 53%
negative, while evaluations of Republicans were more negative - 40% positive vs. 60% negative. For
both parties combined, network evaluations were almost 3 to 2 negative in tone, i.e. 41% positive vs. 59% negative.

That is such a bull . That would mean that a party who did enormous mistakes and went behind Bush for such a long time, and the left him in ruins losing an enormous wasteload of bad candidates gets even with a party without a leader or/and a presidential candidate (Howard Dean and people who like him), who is filled with new people? Old people vs new people debate is even on fox-news and that is balanced?

That is just one aspect of FoxNews. Anyone who watches Fox & Friends can easily see how they favor republicans and love to trash Hillary and the other democratic presidential candidates. They do it constantly.

LOL... Say what you will. The morning show is comparable to shows like "The View," but opposite. Yes, it favors conservatives rather than liberals.

The NEWS given by Fox News is the fairest news you will find. Hands down. Forget the special programs. Of course they are biased. Compare to any of the Alphabet News Networks, and fox, as news goes, has very little conservative bias whereas the others have heavy liberal bias.

The fuss over biased news networks...is the fact that it's been vehemently denied for the last 40 yrs.

Only until FOX news came out, did the "other" side admit that news could, in fact, be biased. I still talk to people in the media that deny bias in the media.

I have yet to decide whether it's denial, lying...or just blindness. Tho, I'm leading to them being blind to the bias. They just don't see the bias in the media if they agree with it. That's why they only see the perceived bias at places like FOX, because they don't agree with it...which, in fact, only proves their own bias.

    ...and so it goes.

A lack of balance is not the problem with Fox News. The problem is that it feeds the "Us vs. Them" at ude towards politics that marginalizes moderates and independents.

But it's great for ratings, which is why CNN and MSNBC followed suit.

I'd still post if it was only the pink font. but with the pink font one can't edit their post, or start topics.

Within the major news networks, which is the fairest then?

OK, I should have been more precise, stating within the major TV news services. A dumb statement though...

Is there really any news provided by the networks? That is, have any of them really ever engaged in anything resembling a critical look at our society? our government?

CNN/ABC/CBS/MSNBC/NBC will take hard looks at Republicans and conservatives.

FOX will take a harder look at Demos and libs.

Still a little unbalanced, but, at least we have some harder looks at the lib/demo side of things these days by one network.

Both sides will look harder at the opposing sides. So what is needed...more biased networks (they all are and we all know it) on the conservative side to even things up a little. Then the "it's just so confrontational in the media" can rear its pretty head.

We want more confrontation between opposing ideas. I don't agree with libs, and they don't agree with me. I want both sides expressing their "honest" views and giving me the chance to see both of them.

Right now, I turn on the TV to get the libs points...and the radio to get the conservatives points. FOX really isn't that conservative, regardless of all the hype. Be nice if I could turn on TV and get both sides.

Politics is discussed on TV right now...issues really aren't. Mostly the same with Talk Radio, tho that is slightly more issue orientated.

I watch TV mostly to find out what color Brittany's hair is today...and if she's wearing underwear.

Such is the nature of the media these days.

No. The M$M stopped reporting hard news years ago...now its all a bunch of prepackaged, vetted, made-for-TV, Video-News-Releases, straight from the P.R. office of the White House, bull ....

True. It's entertainment...bottom line...Just like the Spurs.(Die-hard Suns' fans will deny this till the very end)

Fox News may not be "FAIR"....but it does provided the most balanance of any news network.

FAIR is too subjective of a term to use.

I'd almost bet 2 to 1 that most couldn't tell the difference between
the three major network newscast if they didn't recognize the voice
or hear someone tell them which network they were listening to.
They are all just alike in nearly every respect. Fox gives you more
depth in reporting at 5 PM. Fox just aggrieves me when they
get stuck on a "breaking news" story and keep showing the
blasted tape loop over and over and over and over and over.
