The most decorated active player in the league should start.
When he was listed as a center I was okay with him not starting but now that it's fixed I'm happy to see him get the votes.

Strange, I remember when Grant Hill used to get voted in (or close) when he was out full seasons with injuries. Now he's having a near-All Star calibur year and he's a distant 10th.
Duncan has almost as many votes as Yao? Sounds like China's basketball fans are more sophisticated than many give them credit for.

Jeff McDonald: Duncan surging in All-Star voting
DENVER -- The Spurs' Tim Duncan leads all Western Conference forwards in All-Star voting, according to the latest round of results released by league Thursday.
Duncan has drawn in 1,049,641 votes, and leads the second-place forward -- Denver's Carmelo Anthony -- by 20,306. More importantly for Duncan's bid to start his ninth consecutive All-Star game, he leads the No. 3 forward -- Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki -- by 218,617 votes.
The top two forwards at the end of the voting earn starting nods.
Duncan isn't drawing badly at all, considering he is listed as a center on the paper ballots. (After a modi of controversy, he was moved back to his traditional power forward slot for on-line balloting).
As for the other prominent Spurs, Manu Ginobili (360,408 votes) and Tony Parker (316,541) are ranked fifth and sixth among Western Conference guards.

I still contend that Duncan's losing a ton of votes because of the listing on the paper ballots. That he's leading despite that is really a pleasant surprise.
It looks really good for Duncan. Dirk is more than 200,000 vote behind him.
Right now, I don't see coaches selecting Ginobili or Parker. Both have had a quite bad December month and there are too much quality guards in the western conference.

Duncan Moved to Forward on NBA All-Star Ballot
NEW YORK, Nov. 21 (AP) -- The NBA shifted Tim Duncan from center to forward on its All-Star ballot on Wednesday, boosting the San Antonio player's chances of making his ninth consecutive start.
The seven-member media panel that selected the players for the original ballot had Duncan as a center, even though he has always been listed as a forward. He was voted to start for the Western Conference each of the last eight seasons, but that streak would have been in jeopardy if he was a center.
Houston center Yao Ming gets overwhelming support from China and has been elected to start every year of his career. He received the highest vote total in history in 2005, and the fourth-highest ever last season.
"It's great that they did that. ... It makes total sense and we're thrilled that they made that change,'' Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said in San Antonio. "That's what he's been, he's been that way (a power forward) for 10 years. There's no reason to change it.''
Though the paper ballots can't be changed, Duncan will be moved to forward on the online ballot on NBA.com. All votes he has received or receives in the future will be credited toward him at forward.
The All-Star game is Feb. 17 in New Orleans.
So how did their votes for Duncan at center get switched?
They can't reprint the paper ballots.
Any vote Duncan gets on paper, for center, will be counted as a forward vote.
And it's counted from the beginning. Every vote he's gotten, even before the switch, is counted as forward.
They just tally them up. The only problem is, someone in an arena that might vote for Duncan at forward but wants to vote for someone else at center won't vote for two centers. And if they do, the ballot is probably invalidated. I haven't seen any explanation otherwise.
Duncan loses some votes simply because Yao is so popular. He probably gets the majority of the anti-Yao votes thou.
He's not that far behind Yao. He's closer than I would have guessed.
Of course, Duncan never would get the start if he'd stayed listed as a center.
