That system is flawed. As a Cowboys fan, it's nice to see them represented, but this is way overboard.

In previous years he had trouble covering but he made big plays. When he led the team in interceptions, forced fumbles and sacks it made sense. Not so much this year.

wow. i can think of about 10 other guys not going who were more deserving.

, despite some early mistakes, i wouldn't have traded Laron Landry's production this year for 4 Roy Williams. and no, i'm not making a case that landry belongs instead, only that he was better than williams.

Did he get in as an alternate? I know he wasn't on the original roster.

    EDIT:
Never mind...I just saw the story.

    I concur with Obstructed View.

Yeah, Roy has his flaws. He does, however, take most (if not all) of the critism when the defense has a bad game. He still gets his hits in every now and then, just not as much as he used to.

I think he has gone from the most overrated safety to the most unappreciated safety.

That's about my thinking as well. At least in previous years he was making big hits, timely interceptions, forcing fumbles, etc. This year he did squat.

Either way, he's not producing so he better get his together.

Yeah, supposedly he's been wearing his old #38 in practice this week (the number he had at OU). There is not a #38 currently on the roster, so I wonder if he changes his number...maybe it'll keep the offenses from locating him

I'll welcome anything different he brings because what he has now ain't doing .

No, he used to make big plays that were the difference in games. That's why he went to Hawaii.

I'd agree that Landry was better than Roy, and he's almost as dirty. And the best part of Roy on the Cowboys is that there aren't 4 of him.

It really is, just about every year. Like I've said before, it used to mean something when the players didn't make enough money to afford a trip to Hawaii. Now it's just more hassle, and there are too many players for fan voting to make much sense; the average fan simply doesn't know enough about the players to make good decisions, and will instead vote for everyone on his team. While they should be allowed to do that, maybe it shouldn't carry quite so much weight in the future.

I heard it was because the Cowboys' staff was unable to get Clinton Portis' cleat imprints out of #31.

    (i kid, i kid!)

Please take off the cowboy goggles. His play this year has been atrocious. I really believe the Cowboy defense improves when he's off the field.

Name 10 other NFC strong safties. Because that is the topic at hand.

Roy didn't have a good year in the sense that he made game changing plays. In fact I saw some bone headedness and I saw him miss some tackles I've seen him make in previous years. I don't believe stats should be the sole measuring stick in pro-bowl selection, BUT that is how Roy got in, on stats alone, which are still tops among NFC strong safties, and he played for a 13-3 team. AND he had better stats than Landry so its no suprise to me that he made it in as an alternate. Remember 2/3s of the votes come from players and coaches and 1/3rd from us fans.

Glad you think so. Taylor was a FS.

So if stats were the sole measure, then why not Gibril Wilson for NYG? He had 92 tackles/4 ints to Roy's 92 tackles/2 ints.

Laywer Milloy, Falcon's SS had 90/2. Lion's Gerald Alexander had 81 tackles/2 sacks/2 ints. Packers' Bigby Atari had 86 tackles/3 forced fumbles/5 ints. Ram's OJ Atogwe had 75 tackles/8 ints.

In additon, none of those players were fined multiple times and suspended for illegal conduct on the playing field.

Well NFL players and coaches disagree with you. 2/3 is greater than 1/3.

And they disagreed with me last year when Romo made it and Garcia didn't. That was a farce as well.

    Thirty-Eight Is Great For Williams

Williams said he'll switch from No. 31 to No. 38 next year.

IRVING, Texas - Eight is great for Cowboys safety Roy Williams. Well, 38, to be exact.

Williams said Thursday he would change his uniform number back to the one he wore as a standout at the University of Oklahoma beginning next season. Williams wore a No. 38 practice jersey during Wednesday's workouts, prompting questions from the media on Thursday about why he wasn't wearing his usual No. 31 jersey.

"What number change?" Williams teased before admitting that the change had been a long time coming for him.

When Williams first arrived as a rookie at Valley Ranch in 2002 he had to take No. 31 because cornerback Duane Hawthorne had No. 38. Williams could have had the number if he paid Hawthorne $20,000 - a move Williams didn't want to make. Hawthorne left the team at the end of the 2002 season and safety Lynn Scott wore the number off and on through 2005. Since then, No. 38 has been available for any Cowboys player, allowing Williams to make the switch.

"I've always been wanting to change my number to that," Williams said.

The number change isn't just a throwback to Williams' college days. It's also rooted in the Bible, according to the safety.

"Eight in the bible is regarded as a new beginning, and I feel that after this season it's time to switch over," Williams said. "Switch to No. 38."

Williams said he had talked to his pastor Rickie G. Rush at the Inspiring Body of Christ, a nondenominational church located in Dallas, telling him what he wanted to do.

Another factor in delaying the number change to next year, according to Williams, is not wanting Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to lose money on the large inventory of No. 31 jerseys in the marketplace.

"It was kind of helping out Jerry, so he wouldn't lose money in the whole deal," Williams said.

Your hatred of the Cowboys makes you way off base. I agreed Roy was a bone head this past year, but his stats were very similar with the above you mentioned, AND he played on a 13-3 team. We as fans see the worst in Roy, but players and coaches see something elss I guess. Thats why its believable to me that he made it in as an ALTERNATE. On a side note, in the Dallas Morning News, Roy said he recognized that he is in because of Taylors death and that he had something special planned for Sean Taylors memory during the pro-bowl. Thats pretty classy.

Last year Garcia was great and made alot of plays. His season just started way too late(week 11) for Pro-Bowl consideration. He only passed for 1309 yards and 10tds while Romo passed for 2903 and 19tds, and made plays of his own. No farce there.
