This should be a great game. Even more so if Gates can play.
Plans for the Chargers: Do what they've done the last two meetings.......................win.
Still haven't heard an update on the severity of his injury.
On Yahoo, he's listed with a sprained big toe and is questionable at Indy. He counts on his athlecisim to create separation or jump for passes. The injury doesn't sound too bad but it could hurt his effectiveness in running routes and jumping.
All I've heard so far is that Gates xrays were negative. Severe sprain, no word on playing status.
Severe sprain. That doesn't sound good.
Yep I think SD upsets Indy... and maybe even NE. With the talent on SD they might be able to pull it together. Funny how a team that was expected to do something the year before and they fall, that they are able to get over the hump the next year.
ex: Pitt and Indy.
You are right. It's the added motivation of paradise lost.
I will save my comments about the possible Pats/Chargers matchup until it actually is set in stone.
Here are some other examples of teams that came back to win Super Bowls after huge playoff disappointments.
'02 Bucs
'97 Broncos
'96 Packers
'94 49ers
'92 Cowboys
'90 Giants
'85 Bears
'77 Cowboys
'72 Dolphins
'71 Cowboys
'70 Colts
'69 Chiefs
Peyton will just throw the 6 int's he's supposed to throw.
Chargers win! Let's go
Dude you're a eating moron if you think the Chargers D is going to get six pickoffs again. I lulzed at Phil Simms fellate the Chargers D and their 30 pickoffs saying how their stats were so far ahead of everyone else today. off. The Chargers D and especially Anthony Cromartie are ing overrated specifically because of the Indy game. I expect a good game, but the Chargers shouldn't be too confident coming into this game because they realize their special teams won them that game and their offense got rocked by Indy's D all night.
I'd be shocked if the Colts lose this game. They played as bad as possible against the Chargers the last time and still almost pulled it out. The Chargers have too many choke-prone parts. Norv Turner, Philip Rivers, Chris Chambers -- this aren't exactly the guys I'd pick to go to war with, especially with Gates likely out.
Only way the Chargers pull this out is if LT carries the team ... but LaDirkian doesn't strike me as a big game player, either.
who do you trust on the other team to go to war with?
I'm curious!!!
Imo, Dwight Freeney is the best pass rusher in the NFL, especially on the turf. No Dwight Freeney this time.
Colts are #1 in points allowed and may as well be #1 against the pass since they were #2 and Tampa was eliminated today. . . and they played half the season without Freeney. Clearly his injury set them back a few years.
You've seen Freeney play more than I have. Are you telling me I'm wrong about him being the best pass rusher in the NFL?
ticked off much, chargers are underdogs and to win the superbowl it starts with beating the defending champs.
Peyton's nvts dropped sometime last year and he finally played well in the playoffs. I like the Addai/Keith combo. Reggie Wayne is better than the entire Chargers receiving corps. And Bob Sanders is probably the best player either team has on defense ... now that Merriman is off the juice.
Freeney didn't have much of an impact on that game because it was on grass and it was raining. Of course Freeney would be really nice to have in this upcoming game but the Colts should be able to win it regardless.
Chambers sure choked today in his first playoff game
Freeney draws double teams. The Colts really don't have anyone else that commands that type of respect.
It should be a great game because I don't know if the Chargers are really ready. But I think they have some very talented athletes on their team and are more than capable of winning in Indy.
