I'm a die-hard San Antonio Spurs fan, and I am a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. With the increased tension in the rivalry between the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs, I'm finding it harder to root for anything Dallas.

Of course, the whole New Orleans/San Antonio Saints debacle along with the Tagliabu comments about "small market" San Antonio before ever publically thanking the city for housing the Saints had turned me off to the NFL.

I find it strange to root for the Dallas Cowboys, and then hate everything Dallas now that it is basketball season. Is it possible to be a fan of the franchise, but not the city? Guess I'm a bigger Spurs fan than a Cowboys fan, but that has to be a result of the current rivalry between the Mavs and Spurs.

Any thoughts or comments from other Spurs/Cowboys fans??

For me, it's not so much Mavs related as it is just getting older, maybe. I find myself still a fan, but one that doesn't live and die with each game anymore.

I still watch every game, but I don't have the passion that I had 10 yrs ago or for sure, as a youngster during the Staubach yrs.

I don't let the Mavs or Mav fan dictate who I watch or with what level of interest or passion. that. The Cowboys and Rangers have always been my teams and that isn't going to change no matter what the Mavs do.

For me its not about the city, its about the team. Two different en ies. The Mavericks and Cowboys share a city(well not technically) but they are not intertwined.

As a kid growing up in SA, its always been about the Cowboys and the Spurs.

It's one thing to talk trash to Dallas fans in fun. But if you really are having a philosophical crisis because you hate a heterogeneous group of 5 million people on account of their basketball team, so much so that it is causing you to reassess your other leisure activities... you need to dial it down a notch. The Spurs are not life and death.

Its simple if your a loyal Spurs fan you should hate everything Dallas, including the Cowgirls. Plus they suck anyway, so why do you want to root for them?

More like you taking a sports team question too seriously...

I grew up in Corpus so I was always a fan of the professional sports team closest to where I grew up, with the exception of Texas A&M. I grew up an Oilers/Astros/Spurs fan because they were closest to Corpus. I am an Aggie fan because of family ties I have with the school. I hate all other teams except for the ones I'm a fan of.

Im pretty hard-core Cowboys/Spurs. I root for the teams, not the cities. Who cares if a Mav fan shares the same rooting intrest as I do in an NFL team. There are Spurs fans who root for other teams I root for. No big deal to me.

It's simple. You're an idiot. And every team sucks at some point, some people though believe in loyalty.

I live in Dallas and grew up in the SA area. Cowboys and Spurs are my teams. I'd say SA and Austin are full of DC people as well - that has always been the case (Houston still has quite a few Cowboy fans as well).

The Mavs are a seperate en y controlled by an irritating little twerp. Their sense of en lement is way overblown when compared to their actual accomplishments. At least the Cowboys have won a bunch of league championships in their history.

Don't get too down on Dallas. I just have to grit my teeth when the local media fawns on the Mavericks and busts on the Spurs (it is pure jealousy BTW).

It's hard when you are a Spurs fan and move to Dallas and because you root for the Boys, you're expected to root for the Mavs as well.

I do know though that if SA were to ever get a football team, I'd take my loyalty back down south.

I don't have that issue. Sure I hate the Mavs, but DFW has been very good to me. I've had lots of fun up there.

Naw...don't let your Sports Interfere with each other...enjoy whatever you like.

I will take it one step further...I am a Mavs fan but I like Duncan, people like him make sports fun. I am a Cowboys fan and I have massive respect for Brett Favre.

Blanket hatred for another team is pretty effing stupid and I think most people grow out of it. ........With that said........ I never want anything good to ever happen to the Redskins, Eagles, Giants or Liverpool.

I actually have a great deal of respect for the Redskins. I don't mind them winning, as long as they finish worse than the Cowboys. The Giants I like to see bad stuff happen to. The Eagles, however... I want the Eagles to never win another game and enjoy miserable team after miserable team. Everything that happens to the Eagles should be bad!
