After all the mess about Crayton basically costing the Cowboys the game with a few of his plays, in particular the slow-down, missed touchdown - do you think he'll be on the Cowboys next year, on a really short leash?

Depends on what his contract looks like. I voted no BTW.

he'll still be around. With T.O. a year older and Terry Glenn never a guarantee to stay healthy, they can't afford to lose a guy like Crayton. As ty a player as he is, he's a decent 3rd WR.

Now, if Sam Hurd and Miles Austin continue their improvement this offseason, then Crayton. I always liked both of those guys better than him.

Deal him? Didn't they just re-sign him a few weeks ago? I'd imagine, no idea of his contract numbers, the cap hit wouldn't be too kind.

I don't think they can do that since they just re-signed him.

I didn't think that any contract was guaranteed in the NFL? Anyways, they could also trade him ... it just seems like he hasn't really been doing much this year, because he was our "only" second option because T.Glenn was out.

Signing bonus is guareteed and signing bonuses are generaly spread out over the contract and they accelerate into one lump payment that counts against he cap if someone is traded or cut.

So..if Patrick has a base salary of 500k and he gets a 9million signing bonus thats spread out over 4 years...

I THINK its a minimum charge of 9.5 million against the cap for that year and then you tack on penalties. So its better to trade people later into their contract.

***I am not sure what he got by the way and I am too lazy to look it up, I just made up those numbers to make a point***

Yes, he'll be in Dallas. He's signed long term, and is a very good #3 WR.

He'll be around and even though he had a rough game he's still better than a gamble on a 4th or 5th round pick, which is basically what you could get for him if even that.

Patrick just had one bad game. Release him and the line forms to the left for teams to pick him up.

didnt dallas just sign him to like a 4 year 14.6 million dollar deal??

    im sure he is staying

I like Patrick. He has a loud mouth but he is solid. He seems like a very smart guy though, I am sure he will take something out of that bad game.

I think he makes those catches if Terry Glenn is still hurt. For the first time all season he wasn't getting %100 of the #2 slot playing time. He was going in and out with Terry Glenn. When you have a certain rotation for so many games, it screws up your game when you get thrown out of it. They need to use the 2nd or 3rd round pick for a WR after getting a RB and safety/corner

Uh, why do we need a RB? We have two, and one of them is the best 4th down back in the league.

I won't deny that we need a safety - we should look into using our 1st round pick from the Browns for that - or trade our two 1st rounders to go higher.

And this isn't the first game that Crayton has screwed up in - and his loud mouth gets annoying. TO may talk, but at least he backs it up ...

3rd option WR's who choke in big games are a dime a dozen in the NFL. Reche Caldwell says hi. So does Brandon Stokely. Michael Clayton offers greetings as well.
He would be the 2nd WR on most teams and first option on lower teams.

To say he chokes in big games based on one playoff game is simply stupid.

You're really satisfied with the big bag of nothing that Julius Jones brings to the table? And Barber just can't handle a full-time load.

Dallas needs to spend one of their 1st rounders on a RB for sure - preferably Felix Jones from Arkansas.

The other 1st rounder needs to be a cornerback, IMO. Unless he's Sean Taylor or Ed Reed version 2.0, safeties just aren't worth spending a 1st round pick on.

you're ing re ed. go look at the rosters of most teams and he's a 3rd WR at best everywhere. Probably not even that for some teams. , he wouldn't even make New England's roster and he had the nerve to talk about them

it's good that you finally agree with me, your take was so goddamn re ed i could hardly believe it when i saw it. seriously, crayton is a #2 receiver?
So, every team in the NFL has a number 2 guy better than him?

I am not that big of a fan of him but to say he isn't a number 2 guy...... when he has been one all season already.........
