Sorry, but I don't get it...

    Massenburg in November 84,7
    Massenburg in December 83,3
    Season grade for Mass 82,9

How can his season grade be lower than both month grades?

    Well done!

You even fixed some other grades.

Tnx for your effort and keep grading. It really helps us far far away to see how players are doing.

Nice work, timvp. I think your assessments/grades of the players has been pretty fair (unbiased) and based on good recognition of what is going on.

I don't think a curve of the grades will be necessary before the final report cards are given out to your students.

The average is a slight misconception.

IMO, Massenburg hasnt been a better player than Nesterovic.

Maybe this indicates consistency, and effectiveness?????

Just a casual observation (dazed and confused)

I think to understand the grades you have to reconsider the player role.
therefore massenburg is doing what he is paid for a little bit better than rasho that is supposed to be a starter and one of the best center.

I generally agree with the grades, my only complaint or an observation at least is the grades don't seem to be a reflection on mere contribution of a player, but probably combined with what expectations people have of that player. I don't think anyone would really think Ginobili has been a better player this year than Duncan, i think it's graded more in the lines of what they are achieving compared to what's been expected from them.

Yeah, the grades are based upon the expectations of each player. If I did it the other way, Duncan would always get a 100 and other players would struggle to get a 50. That wouldn't be any fun.

I don't understand Barry having a B average. For most of the season he's been a huge disappointment. If only all my profs in school had such a forgiving curve...

I like the idea but have some questions. Do you have a template of what you expect from a certain player based on number of points, assists, tos, rebounds, etc. for each game and then measure against that--or do you just wing it with an assessment of how you think the player did in a particular game?

Seems like some players would get an occasional 50, 60 or 70, but most get in the 80s every game. Occasionally it makes for oddities like a reserve with an outstanding game getting his 80s props--but another player also grading in the lower 80s who had a terrible game.

    I know its tough--and I'm not in'--just asking.
