Your link is bad!
Anyone know why we signed Butler and Elson instead of this guy in the summer of 06:

I think if he still could be had, we should look in bringing him in along with Splitter in the future. Call me crazy but he could be the perfect energy guy off the bench for us IE: Milsap, Ronny Turiaf
My bad I fixed it now.
My guess is buyout issues. We also have Splitter now. However, an intresting prospect. Do we still have his rights?
He wanted a lot of money for what he does and doesn't do on the court.
Yes we do. He just signed a 2 year deal with a team from Moscow in July. So I assume in the summer of 09' or maybe 08' if the buyout is reasonable. But we had the chance to sign him in 06' without buyout issues, my guess is he wanted close to 4 million so we went the Elson/Butler route. :/
Yes, we still have his rights. We also still have the rights to Mike Mitc , Johnny Moore, and David Robinson.
Javtokas wanted the entire MCE without proving his NBA worth or durability. He was involved in a horrible motorcycle accident, and no one really knew if he could stand up to the long, pounding NBA season.
I don't know if he wanted the entire MLE, but his agent was "insulted" by the contract offer the Spurs gave him.
I doubt he will ever be a Spur.
The guy was option #1 that summer before Elson and Butler.
Had you paid attention you would've known that.
The agent and him were insulted by a reasonable offer, so him and his agent.
I'm pretty sure it was 3.75 million or close to 4 million a year that Javtokas and his agent wanted.

Highlight reels can be deceptive. For what ever reason, after we didn't bring him over, he spent a year with a good Greek team that rarely let him off the bench.
Now he's with another team and doing better I think. But only God and Pop know if he could play here on this team. I think we are counting more on Splitter who has a better track record in Euro play.
I don't think he was their #1 option, I think he was AN option. If he was their soley # 1 option, I imagine they woulda gave him a million more than they gave Jackie Butler. I think Spurs wanted to be able to split their midlevel for 2 bigs because there was no bonified proven big men that summer that they could afford besides pryzbilla and nazr. After they came off the market, I imagine they wanted to be safe and have 2 options to look at.
I apologize for coming off like that, but you guys act like the Spurs organization doesn't do, nor knows anything.
Sorry that just peeves me off thats all.
I'm just saying he couldn't be worse than Jackie Butler and Elson. Like ChumpDumper said we most likely will never know how he would fit in black and silver.

Hes probobly not.
What makes you think though that summer they didn't try to get him?
He was option #1.
I'm pretty sure Spurs wanted to resign Nazr, but he chose Detriot because of his PT in the WCSF.I'm pretty sure they then went the Pryzbilla route.
They spoke with Javtokas' agent relatively early IIRC. That makes me think he was offered the LLE since it wouldn't affect any of the other negotiations.
I'm pretty sure they talked to Przybilla before Javtokas. But they reportedly made a reasonable offer to Javtokas and his side wasn't pleased. They then went after Elson/Butler and got them. If they didn't get them, they probably would have re-visited the idea of bringing in Javtokas (but by then he was already signed overseas).
That's how I remember it but I'm not sure it's true![]()
I'm just bolding this so that you understand what people are talking about in regards to your "tone." That bolded line wasn't necessary.
and I apologized for it later on.
Pussyface and others can talk like that, yet Im the one bolded.
Greatness.

You always seem mystified like you don't know what people are talking about when they mention your tone. So, I was pointing out a prime example.
Anyway, Javtokas would probably be here if he would have taken $2M a year.
blame it on his agent. his agent didnt agree on the contract we were willing to offer.
I've always liked Javtokas' intensity and upside, but after the motorcycle injury, many people question whether or not he could regain his amazing athleticism ever again. I highly doubt he will ever wear the silver and black, but who knows.
He might not even be worth that much, but IIRC thats the standard contract offer for a Euro's first year or two.
Dunno what makes him think hes better than Manu or Oberto.
I can see why he may think hes better than Oberto lol. But certainly not Manu.
